Peder Fredricson got Scandinavium arena to cheer about – Göteborgs-Posten

Peder Fredricson on All In won with great rejoicing Gothenburg Trophy – his second Grand Prix victory in two weeks.

– Incredibly fun, I’m very happy and very proud of my horse that jumps amazing, he says.

How did you introduce the jump-off?

I do not know if I had time to think so much – I was trying to keep your heart rate low and the pace high.

The 11 000 people in the audience got the Scandinavium to boil when it was to be clear that the popular Swede won the prestigious and richest race after a strong and rapid response in the jump-off.

– The feeling after the last obstacle can hardly describe, the response of the audience is enormous, says Peder Fredricson.

In the jump-off defeated Peder Fredricson Swiss Pius Schwizer with a button second. Third was the Dane Andreas Schou who rode very well. He led after the first round robin but was not quite enough in the jump-off.

The 43-year-old Fredricson is in fine form – in November he took home Sweden International Horse Show in Solna and two weeks ago won the Grand Pix in Borås.

– It’s fine now, not least, I have very good horses, has probably never been so good, he says.

Another strong Swedish intervention was delivered by Linda Heed who was the other Swedish show jumper that made it to the jump-off in which she unfortunately had eight faults.

A total of four Swedes in the top ten – most unbacked was Evelina Tovek from Varberg after a strong performance came in tenth place, she rode quickly but had four faults in the first round robin.

Brynäs secured SHL contract – Swedish Radio

Brynäs have had a hard Smaland team throughout the season. Four out of five matches lost: the very first in the penalty shootout, the three following at full time before Gavle team now broke the pattern and thanks to two unexpected scorers struggled down Vaxjo ghost when it was most needed.

But the goal – and hedged SHL contract – sat hard inside.

For Saturday’s game looked very much like the previous meetings with Växjö in the driver’s seat most of the match and a striving Brynäs which until acknowledgment 7:07 into the second was for gently and passively although Gavle team had a pair of sharp chances too.

Brynäs coach Thomas A ??? Bulanâ ??? Berglund was not satisfied and took an early timeout at the beginning of my period in which the team agreed to grab the puck, dare to play and not allow guests to control the game.

Ten seconds after the timeout chirped Oscar Eklund with his fourth goal of the season – a puck that found the back of Stefan Steen and post.

That was three months ago Brynäs Hill scored later, to Leksand home.

Now got the goal up the confidence of Brynäs who also had a puck by Anton Rodin in the post a little while after the acknowledgment.

The third was the chase, ripping and tearing that applied when Brynäs lack the individual skills of Växjö.

But will hit – evenings like this – class.

Now handed a brilliant pass (of Pathrik Westerholm) and a shot right up in the far corner of say the least, unexpected game hero (twin brother Ponthus Westerholm) to win even against a gameplay superior opponent.

The 2-1 goal was Ponthus third of the season and the roar straight out when the puck whizzed up into the top corner said it all.

The ghost was defeated, the contract secured. Now waiting for the fun – Playoffs

It only took a few minutes before Lasse Vibe ran through and convicted. The referee signaled a penalty and Martin Smedberg-Dalence was safe from eleven meters.

It was not actually a half hour before the runner arrived, much thanks to Myresjöfönster / Vetlanda talented goalkeeper Ambjörn Lennartsson. But in the 33 minutes combined Vibe and countryman James Ankersen fine. The vibe was easily conclude by bumping the ball into the open goal.

– It was a little easier to roll the ball today. It was no picnic as seen, but we did the job and we gassed when we needed to. That’s how you do, ‘said Lasse Vibe to SVT directly after the game.

In quick succession then came third and fourth by Michael Boman and Lasse Vibe.

In the second half came the match delicacy when Lasse Vibe found the shooting position just outside the penalty area and with a beautiful bow placed the ball into the far corner. He was asked by SVT if it was a typical Vibe goals.

Known pickup impresses – Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet

Therese Johaug could afford to take a Norwegian flag from the audience in one hand before she went into the peacefulness ski stadium.

So superior was the Norwegian who stack early, extended lead and was never threatened.

Thus she took her third gold medal in this World Cup, following victories in the country pursuit and relay. World Cup Queen was joined on the podium by Marit Bjørgen and Charlotte Kalla.

Cold came to the Falun to try to take her first individual World Championship medal. And go home with three. Plus the silver in the relay.

Cold saw knocked out in the middle of tremilen when she almost stood still in the heavy uphill. Then appeared a medal far away. Prior to that, she had fallen twice, first up the killer hill and then just before turning.

But somehow she managed to find new forces and fought his way to the bronze medal. Her first medal at tremilen in a championship and the second, after 10 km in the Olympics last year, in the classical style.

Behind Cold replied Sofia Bleckur again for a super race. Once again she finished fifth, just as in skiathlonen a week ago.

Șdergren running femmilen in Falun РAftonbladet

Falun. He made his first World Cup femmil fourteen years ago.

Now, Anders Sodergren make their last front of the audience in Falun.

– Of course you have longed very much. It has been the absolute main goal this winter, he said.

We had a hunch already yesterday. Marcus Hellner had a tough stretch in the relay and staggered afterwards on Sunday femmil.

Would he give up and let the reserve Anders Sodergren compete?

– Anders is a good friend and a strong skiers also. I think he would do well there. We’ll see what it gets for its part, said Hellner.

Now it is clear that it is so.

During the Saturday morning was presented 37-year-old as one of the five Swedes to be run femmilen, which goes in a classic style.

Anders Sodergren have been with the national team during the World Cup without knowing if he would get the chance to compete.

Tricky temperature

– It is a bit special situation, but you get the slightest purple chance at a home World Cup must be prepared. It may never experience again, he said.

Södergren think the race will be hard, especially since the temperature seems to dance around zero, which is difficult in waxing point of view.

– It will to be a tough race. It’s hearty paths with many meters of altitude, he said.

The other passenger is Calle Halfvarsson, Johan Olsson, Daniel Richardson and Lars Nelson. To Hellner refrain looks Södergren as a beautiful gesture.

– He knows that he would rather hand over the stick to me. I am very grateful, says Anders.

What will you miss the Championship?

– The Championships are the most fun. I usually light to go at best, especially over the past few years. You will miss the atmosphere and being out with the gang.

This suggests that Șdergren running femmilen in the World Cup РAftonbladet

Falun. Revanschlustan is great, but it’s also the friendship.

Marcus Hellner is planning to waive femmilen and let Anders Sodergren go.

– Anders is a good friend and a strong skier, said Hellner.

Marcus Hellner’s World Cup has been approved, but no more. He was tenth in the country pursuit, four of 15 kilometers of charge and drove in runs the third leg of the relay team that won silver.

The remaining part of the men’s Sunday femmil. Hellner, one of the five Swedish places if he wants, in which case he runs together with Johan Olsson, Calle Halfvarsson, Daniel Richardson and Lars Nelson.

But the 29-year-old Hellner have another option. His close friend Anders Sodergren, 37, has been selected for the World Cup as a spare and would like to finish his career with a femmil at home.

This indicates that he is removed

Södergren won World Championship silver on the abutment twelve years ago. He has not done any races during the World Cup, but chances are if Hellner refrain from standing.

– We have not decided yet. Anders is a good friend and a strong skiers too. I think he would do well there. We’ll see what it gets for its part, says Hellner.

The national coach Richard Griffin will reveal its final femmil kind during a press conference on Saturday morning. He does not want to give any notice in advance, but the fact that Södergren present at the press conference suggests that he is removed.

“Do not give it away to be nice”

Daniel Richardson do not think Hellner would get off only by kindness.

– I think that Marcus himself knows what he’s capable of doing. He feels he has a good chance of a femmil he will go. I do not think he’s going to give it away just to be kind to Anders, even if Anders is very well worth the chance, he said.

Richardson is confident that the veteran Södergren would finish his career at a neat way if he got the chance.

– Anders is an extremely talented femmil skater and was the best of all of us at femmilen at the Olympics. He gets going he will be high up, then how far it is enough we’ll see.

The gesture, “I will probably give it to Anders” – Aftonbladet

Anders Sodergren want to make one last championship appearance, but is only reserved for femmilen in Falun.

When considering Marcus Hellner to make a nice gesture for his friend’s sake.

– I would probably give my place to Anders Sodergren, he says to NSD.

Anders Sodergren has a long and successful career behind him with relay gold at the Vancouver Olympics as the highlight.

But soon he put the skis on the shelf.

Before that hope Södergren however, few make one last appearance at home in Falun. However, there is one big problem: he is the only reserve of femmilen.

Anders Sodergren is in Falun and is ready to run, but necessitates that one of his colleagues poked or voluntarily refrain from driving.

“Undecided than”

That, to say no, looks Marcus Hellner now out to do.

The reason is one. Anders Sodergren get fulfill the dream of racing before the Swedish audience.

– We have not decided yet, there is no race I have loaded a lot of. I can think of to give the place to Anders Sodergren, he says to NSD.

It is up to the coach Richard Griffin to determine which Swedes get the chance in the championship’s final race.

Sweden has five locations in femmilen thanks to Johan Olsson is the reigning champion.

Silver to Sweden in the men’s relay – Aftonbladet

Falun / Stockholm. Calle Halfvarsson tried – but had no chance against Petter Northug.

The Norwegian accounted for a super sprint at the finish and swung the gold.

– Calle goes straight into the trap of making the same mistake as in Val di Fiemme, he said.

Daniel Richardson lost ground during the first leg, it looked tough for Swedish men.

But Johan Olsson played a super race and gave Marcus Hellner a Head Start on the third leg.

He was 14 seconds ahead of Norway. But the 29-year-old had no fun day – he dropped in both Norway and France.

Went out in third place

Calle Halfvarsson had to fight in making the other two competitors when he went out as the last one for the Swedish team.

The Frenchman Adrien Back Scheider made an attempt in the final stretch, but had nothing with gold battle to do. It was a showdown between Halfvarsson and Northug.

There was a Norwegian super strong and sprinted down the home son on lap.

– Petter is too strong, says Halfvarsson and continues:

– I thought he would stand before but he came in the slipstream behind me toward the horseshoe and so he decided there.

– He’s a little too good.

Never felt threatened

Northug got the race just where he wanted.

– The main thing is to reach the finish first, I did not want to be the first in the sprint hill but save power. The attack was good, but the last 150 not so good, he says.

The Norwegian was not impressed by Halfvars’s spurt.

– I go out on the side to make Calle little stressed. He walked into the trap and made the same mistake as in Val di Fiemme. It’s nice to see that you do not learn from his mistakes, he says and continues:

– He says all the time that he is much better than me, I’m just waiting for him to beat me. He is first and it is enough that he takes the opportunity at home, but instead he releases me up and gives me the gold.

Hyschade at the audience

Northug celebrated by putting your finger in front mouth, a gesture to silence the Swedish audience in Falun. Afterward, the whole Norwegian team hush gesture.

– We had talked about that Petter would hyscha says Niklas Dyrhaug.

– We are away from home, you can not celebrate too much. This applies to quiet down a bit.

Sweden had needed Olsson at all distances “- Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet

Petter Northug got what he wanted. Then, Norway had no problem to go home his eighth straight World Cup gold in the relay.

This despite the fact that the team consisted of three championship debutants, alongside Northug.

But that was when Sweden just had Johan Olsson in the top kind. Daniel Richardson struggled with both skis and body, Marcus Hellner did a pale figure and Calle Halfvarsson tried admittedly challenging Northug, but knew deep down that he had no chance against the Norwegian, who has been with the last five times that Norway has taken a World Championship gold.

No, Sweden’s gold chance practically disappeared on the first leg, where Richardson dropped 20 seconds. Johan Olsson then accounted for something special and sent out Hellner in the lead was not enough.

Sweden had needed Olsson at all stages of gold.

There are Olsson, who has saved the Swedish gentlemen of the World Cup so far. He took gold on Wednesday at 15 kilometers and stood in a class by itself in the blue and yellow relay quartet.

Silver in the relay is okay in Falun, where memories are frightening – Hans-Erik Larsson dropped pods in 1974 and Niklas Jonsson’s nightmare stretch in 1993 – but I have still difficult to go running on the blue-yellow silveryra after loss sprint battle against the worst competitor Norway.

Both Richardson and Hellner dropped actually 20.5 seconds on their respective distances . Not at all approved.

What worries most is yet to Johan Olsson drove his last relay. Norway thus takes gold with three new riders, while Sweden is losing its best to the next World Cup in Lahti 2017.

What am most is that Olsson has one race left to run .

What am most is that Olsson has one race left to run.

Femmilen tomorrow will be something special. Hopefully a magical ending to one and a half week’s ski party here in Falun.

Olsson is the favorite to defend the gold from the Val di Fiemme two years ago.

But first, waiting Charlotte Kalla. She has never previously won an international competition in classic style, but today she runs for gold in tremilen.

After the impressive relay leg on Thursday strengthened her self-confidence further. She knows that the technique is that she can challenge Therese Johaug and Marit Björgen for victory.

Sweden has seven medals and I believe in two; Cold and Olsson.

Norway tops obviously medal table at the cross-country skiing far with 11 medals, including seven gold.

Petter Northug has been involved in three of them . He put his finger to his mouth when he crossed the finish line and afterwards put the whole team up on the screen where they “silenced” the Swedish audience with the same gesture.

I could not care less about the little “hyschet”. It’s certainly fun for Norwegians who seems to have a constant need to try to annoy Swedish riders and spectators. The reaction they encounter is that we most smiles. A little indulgence.

And the best answer is that, no nonsense, just to be first across the finish line.

Or how Charlotte Kalla? And Johan Olsson! stop.

Tomas Pettersson: Now I fear the worst – Expressen

Falun. Petter Northug stand down in målfållan and silences the crowd with a hint.

The rest of us can conclude two things:

Norway still the world’s best sprinter.

Sweden still has the world’s best skiers.

After a couple hours of unexpected by palpitations, senseless pickups, strange tactic transitions and other things that only a championship relay can bid, we are still back where it all began.

We knew it of course.

We knew that unless Richardson, Olsson and Hellner could leave Norway far behind was the gold away.

We knew that if Calle Halfvarsson and Petter Northug would go out together on final stretch, there was only an end to the drama.

And so it was.

What we perhaps did not know was how good match Halfvarsson after all, would still give Northug on the home stretch .

And of course you can think about what happened on Daniel Richardson dried all the way on the first leg. If Johan Olsson got to go out with Didrik Tønseth.

I’ve seen him Olsson make as many quite exceptional ski races in recent years. And this belonged to one of the very, very best.

And one thing is very clear:

Do you have a little money left over so put it on Johan Olsson on Sunday.

No one will be able to take the gold in from him.

A little summary? Okay.

The shock on the first leg?

Of course, what happened in the last hill. When Dyrhaug and Vylegsjanin pressed again – and Daniel Richardson was a chance to keep up.

Richardson exchanged seventh – 20 seconds behind.

Miracle on the second leg?

It took just five kilometers – then every Olsson catch up. And went straight into the lead. Heeelt fantastic skiing of the world’s best skiers.

Olsson alternated now one, seven seconds ahead of France. 14 ahead of Norway.

counterattack on the third leg?

Anders Glörsen did as Olsson – was catching up after half the distance. And was then the alternating first. Sensational with France Duvilalrd in second place.

Hellner in third. But just six seconds after Glörsen.

The drama on the fourth leg?

Well, for a while it looked like that stupidity would prevail. When Halfvarsson & amp; Northug was preying on each other for so long that one probably quite shocked Adrien Back Scheider could slide in from.

But after six kilometers pressed Northug to end. The trio was composed, and during the last bit into the stadium it was only about Calle Halfvarsson and Petter Northug.

The ruling came in the little hill into the horseshoe when the Norwegian just, just, managed to get past Calle Halfvarsson.

How good Halfvarsson than ended the riot so was it.

And the gold was Norway.

A sporting drama is over the track. Now wait for the game in front of the microphones with the same Northman in the lead role.

I fear the worst.

Relay Banana imposed – favors Northug – Aftonbladet

Falun. No killer hill – then sentenced skating track in the relay out as easily.

Now the stage is set for Norway and Petter Northug.

– It’s match point Petter says team manager Vidar Löfshus.

The gentlemen running, just like the ladies, two classic stretches followed by two freestyle distances in the relay. The first two are much tougher than skating track, considered by many to be too easy.

– Norway is the favorite given the hilly, there skating track has, it will be a companion to travel, says Johan Olsson.

On the classical path running truckers killer hill twice, the skate banana zero. The light path gives Norway and Petter Northug an advantage.

– It’s match point Petter before starting. It should anything happen before. They (Sweden) have to pull and run hard. But we will also do, it will be man to man all the way, says Norway’s national team manager Vidar Löfshus.

“Thanks for the support …”

Northug afraid Olsson after his victory at 15 km free, and says he believes that the Swede could subtract a half minute. Olsson is on the same track.

– It is not very likely, but I have to thank for the support of Petter’s side, he says and continues:

– How good shape Johan Olsson than is he will not hang off Didrik Tønseth the killer hill, it’s probably rather Johan Olsson who gets to hang on the leash there.

Småsur at the press conference

Northug won gold in sprint and team Print this far in the World Cup. At Thursday’s press conference was the star man of few words, småsur and confident.

When he was asked if it was cowardly of Norway to use him on the last leg replied the star was brief: “yes.”

National Team Head Löfshus am convinced that Calle Halfvarsson not going to have any chance against Northug of Norway and Sweden go together into the stadium.

– It does not matter who Sweden sets up with. No one takes Petter Northug in a sprint anyway, he said.

Emotional when “Foppa” was hailed – Helsingborgs Dagblad

When Modo banner with Peter Forsberg’s number 21 after a half hour long ceremony was hoisted up into the roof of the Fjällräven Center knew jubilation no bounds.

A crowded arena – 7350 persons – in Örnsköldsvik gave his hero a “standing ovation” in time only limited by Modo would meet Frölunda after the ceremony.

In addition to the ecstatic spectators were many celebrities in place, including Mats Sundin and Prince Daniel.

Peter Forsberg gave an emotional speech, in which he repeatedly dropped his voice.

He told me about when he was 4 years old was sitting between mother Gudrun and father Kent and saw Modo play.

– The dream was to once again play in the first team. I once would have to stand here and celebrated for what I’ve done in Modo’s A-team is totally unreal.

He paid tribute to the parents, wife, Nicole, old leaders and teammates.

The roof in Fjällräven Center was then about to lift when the 41-year-old former superstar ended the speech by paying tribute to the fans:

– You have always been on my side. And no motherfucker gonna rip this out Modo heart!

Then went his team out, showed very little Modo Heart and did as usual lately – lost. Great. Fifth straight loss and Modo, last in SHL table, teaches get hard in qualifying.

Frölunda did not compromise for the 6-1 victory and climbed into second place. Possibly temporarily, then Växjö games free on Thursday.

– I will never forget this match. Maybe not because of the game but because we got to experience the praise of Peter Forsberg.

– It is almost as if we feel a bit guilty, said Frölunda’s coach Roger Rönnberg apropos that his team ruined the party for The home crowd.

– I actually think tributes helped our players, gave them inspiration.

Modo coach Per-Erik Johnsson was very low key, but the account of what happened before the match.

– I regret that I have not brought with me a napkin out to the ceremony.

How does it feel, losing 1-6, the party is destroyed and many go home?

– Both are equally deplorable.

– You do not need to be concerned about, though I do not live here full time …. No bastard will rip out this Modo heart, he said in his speech on the ice.

Peter “Foppa” Forsberg has won everything there is to win – except a national championships with Modo.

In the final against Malmo in 1994, he decided one of the matches in overtime, but Örnsköldsvik team still lost by 2-3 in matches.

Relay Silver-beds for new Cold Gold – Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet

Everyone happy afterwards.

Norway, who took revenge for both the Olympic fiasco last year (fifth after waxing miss) and bottennappet Tuesday on the 10 kilometer race, and now had to stand at the top of the podium again.

Sweden, who drew the bow high, not got the hit that was needed but still took home the silver in the fight against Finland.

Finland who earned his first medal in Falun after a tough World Cup and where hope was lit for another medal in tremilen on Saturday.

It was clean hug the party at the awards ceremony afterwards, between competitors.

Cross-country skiing is one of the Nordic disciplines and rarely has it was more clear than this day.

I think that the Swedish coach Richard Griffin and damtränaren Mattias Persson was right team selection – even though it was not enough to gold.

They chose skaters as shown form, put the world’s best freestyle skiers Charlotte Kalla on the tough other classic route of trying to challenge Norway on the gold, chose Maria Rydqvist on the third leg with idea of trying to keep up with Astrid Uhrenholdt Jacobsen and sounded Silver-Stina Nilsson take care of the final stretch.

Bravely, offensive, where the goal was gold.

Now it was silver. Good enough on a day when the Norwegian quartet had good skis and did it simply to cope with.

Those who whine on the Swedish team selection should calm down. It had not helped by one or a few other riders to complete Norway. Maria Rydqvists cases performed in practice nor any role in the outcome. There goes admittedly the last trace of gold jump, but Norway had full control.

The silver was the sixth Swedish medal in the World Championships and I think Grip & amp; Co must have cred for daring to do the unexpected.

We still got two beautiful answer. One of the future, the other for tomorrow.

Charlotte Kalla showed again that she is in his best form. Now she took in ten seconds on Therese Johaug – in classic style! And she crushed Justyna Kowalczyk on the route, she, together with Johaug is the favorite for the gold medal in Saturday’s classic three-mile.

Known way to go classic ski offers hope for world championship gold number two for her on Saturday. She can ride without pressure and expectations, just enjoy and challenge the favorites.

second news was that Stina Nilsson will continue to run the last leg. She played with Finnish artist Krista Pärmäkoski when it drew together in spurt.21-year-old Nilsson has taken three silver in the World Championships and has a tactical mind that will give her and Sweden many medals in the future.

Six Swedish Medals will most likely be seven in the morning when the men’s relay is determined. But I’m not at all sure that it will only be a duel between Sweden and Norway. Russia has a strong lineup with Vylegsjanin last sträckanm a rider who can even spurtslå Petter Northug.

I’m a little worried Calle Halfvarsson as slutman. He has not got it in Falun at his home and must raise themselves mentally in crucial situations. It’s the World Cup now, Calle!

Sweden has taken two straight Olympic gold, but it is 26 years since it became world championship gold.

Let’s hope it does not become a new relay fiasco in the Falun terrain, which in 1974 when Hans-Erik Larsson dropped the scabbard, and in 1993 with Niklas Jonsson had not slide or hold and became Swedish scapegoat for sixth place.

A gold would have us (maybe) forget the historical stafettfiaskona at home.

Statement today: RGB retire their World Cup horse – Göteborgs-Posten

Rolf-Goran Bengtsson’s World Championship horse Casall has made his last major championship.

– There will be no European Championships this summer for his part, says Bengtsson GP.

Instead, the 16-year old colt gradually phased out from racing for about a year to retire and devote themselves to breeding.

– We will hand-pick a number of competitions during the season so he can be phased out in a sensible way. It is important that he should end his racing career in a dignified manner and not pump out the last, says Rolf-Goran Bengtsson GP.

During the previous calendar season has Bengtsson consciously rationed Casall contestants.

– We have been a bit low and opted out of some major events I usually ride, just to save him. He is, after all, 16 years old, it can not match him how hard any time. He needs to recover in between, he said.

At Sunday’s World Cup race in Gothenburg when RGB compete with Casall he has, at least theoretically, chance for the finals in Las Vegas.

But even if he succeeds, he chooses to abstain, just to save Casall.

Since Casall is not current for the European Championships in Aachen, Germany in August became the World Cup in France in September, his last major championship, a championship where he and Bengtsson finished in fourth place for overall fantastic efforts.
