NEW YORK. André Burakovsky has arrived in the NHL.
The 19-year-old rookie dotted into a neat goal directly in the debut for Washington in the night – and decided therefore preseason opener against the Buffalo Sabres.
– He was very good and definitely fight for a place in our squad, says teammate Nicklas Backstrom Sportbladet after 1-0 victory.

Another young Swedish banks eagerly at the door of the NHL’s Columbus rookie Alexander Wennberg and although he struck the right in the night and made one of the goals when the Blue Jackets beat St. Louis 4-3.
Sebastian Wännström did their part of the Blues goals and Columbus bag got Oscar Dansk chance in a period.
Columbus also won a game against Carolina earlier on Sunday and in the event guarded the young Anton Forsberg bag.
He stopped 29 shots and hailed by team managers afterward.
– Anton is a young goalkeeper who toil hard all the time and just therefore, he will only get better and better. He is supposed to give Oscar Dansk a nasty fight on the first spade in the farm team in Springfield this year, said assistant coach Craig Hartsburg for the Blue Jackets website.
