– We are very pleased to have Los Angeles as our candidate city, said Scott Blackburn, president of the US Olympic Committee, the USOC.
The USOC was hoping first to get Boston to apply, but the residents of the city voted against the proposal.
Los Angeles has organized the Summer Olympics twice before, in 1932 and 1984. By the United States staged the Summer Olympics was in 1996 in Atlanta.
– OS loves LA and LA loves the Olympics. We hope to bring the games back home, said Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, something without historical perspective.
On September 15 is the deadline for submitting a letter of intent. January 8, candidates must have submitted an official application to state guarantees. The decision on the host city to be Sept. 15, 2017.
In addition to Los Angeles four European cities so far confirmed their applications – Rome, Paris, Budapest and Hamburg.
