Pistorius is not paroled – Vasterbotten Courier

The South African paralympiern Oscar Pistorius will not be paroled. In addition, he must undergo psychotherapy.

This was decided by the South African Board for parole on Monday, contrary to an earlier decision to let Pistorius serve the rest of his five-year sentence in house arrest – after ten months in prison. South Africa’s Justice Minister Michael Masutha stopped it conditional release in August, when he considered that the decision was “premature”, and ordered the Board to reopen the case.

Pistorius was convicted of manslaughter after shooting his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp through toilet door in the home in February 2013.

The prosecutors have appealed the judgment and claim that Pistorius must have understood that the person who was behind the door would die when he was shot. The appeal will be processed in November.
