Viasat acquires La Liga, Serie A and Ligue 1.
Already this weekend, viewers can see the Spanish and Italian top division in the company’s channels.
The rights to the French top league valid from next season.
– International football has never been so interesting and so important to so many, says Viasat’s sports director Per Nunstedt.
Viasat will strengthen its position in international football.
Recently, it became clear that the company has extended rights to the Champions League and the Premier League over the seasons 2017/2018 and 2018/2019 .
Viasat broadcasts also a former English FA and League Cup, English Championship, Dutch Eredivisie and the German Cup.
“A pride”
And now it thus clearly with the Spanish La Liga and the Italian Serie A as of this season, and French Ligue 1 from next season.
This means that viewers can follow the league for popular teams such as Barcelona, Real Madrid , Juventus, Roma and Milan.
It is also a chance that, among other things, check out John Guidetti Celta Vigo, and Oscar Hiljemark and Robin Quaison in Palermo.
– It feels great good. There is something very special to gather all these great leagues in one house. It’s an incredible feeling, a pride that MTG makes this kind of venture, says Viasat’s sports director Per Nunstedt.
How do you afford this?
– I never comment on rates, but we feel that the interest is very high for these leagues. International football has never been so interesting and so important to so many.
The new rights for La Liga and Serie A extends over 2018 and premiered its transmission is already this weekend in Viasat Football and Viaplay.
“The pressure on us”
How have the reactions been like in the morning?
– It has smattrat here in my phone. There is only joy, that we can have so much in one place.
When you extended the Premier League rights, you celebrated with champagne. Is it too early in the morning like now?
– There may well be a pizza in the newsroom at lunch, laughing Nunstedt continues:

While the Swedish Serie A and La Liga fans had to wait a long time for a Swedish right holders impatience plant.

– It was a nice initiative of you to transmit. But we have made our own assessment and it is so clear that we felt that the leagues have been popular.
From MTG hold would not confirm whether the subscriptions – with the new rights – are now becoming more expensive.
– We have just secured the rights and look at how we package them best for our customers. As soon as we’re done with that, we can tell you much more, but we are not there yet. We can ask to come back on this issue simply says MTG’s spokesperson Aurora Stark.
