Netanya, Israel. It was not even a day at work for Sarah Sjostrom.
It was 23 seconds on the job.
Without further effort swam 22-year-old the fastest of all in the attempt on the 50 free.
Sarah Sjostrom is neither pure sprinter or specialized freestyle swimmer. Hence 50 meter free fit 22-year-old inferior.
This is also how she envisaged the Olympics in Rio next summer: full effort against the medals on the 100 butterfly and 100 and 200 meters freestyle the first few days, then the shortest course as a bonus chance at the end.
But to fit Sarah poorer fit 50 free still remarkably good.
Three chances left
In short runway Championship the last day of competition Sjostrom swam the fastest of all in the attempt on the route. 23.81 was 14 hundredths faster than the world record holder ranomi kromowidjojo and 32 before Jeanette Ottesen.
Magdalena Kuras, it was worse. Her 25.18 was just the 29th time.
Sarah Sjostrom already has two gold medals at the European Championships. In the afternoon, she has two new opportunities: 16:58 goes finals in the 100 meters butterfly and 17:42 final 50 meters free. In addition to the swimming ladies 4×50 meters medley at 18:08 (there they must first qualify this morning).
