Federation of doping scandal: Not done enough – Göteborgs-Posten

On Thursday called Athletic Association to a press conference. And representatives on site were self-critical after the doping scandal with löparstjärnan Abeba Aregawi.

– We need to examine ourselves: have we done enough? The answer must be no. This gives a picture of the Swedish Athletics that is not consistent with the image we would like to give, says’ Union Toralf Nilsson at a press conference in Stockholm, the day after the announcement that even Aregawis B-sample was positive.

Coach Karin Tower Klint then described the meeting with Aregawi in Amsterdam:

– She was incredibly depressed and sad. The important thing that happened at that meeting where we explained that she should cooperate with the IAAF. She had no idea and did not want to tell, says Tore Klint and continues:

– It feels good that she started to work now. She was incredibly sad and broken.

Sverker Nilsson, president of the Swedish Athletics medical committee told then that if you follow the rules, she will be turned off in four years, but that it is now a legal process.

– We trying to be aggressive in our doping work and folds her she may not compete for Sweden for another four years, says Nilsson.
