Leksand took beauties away win in Växjö – Old Newspapers

– After a good first period 3-0, we had little to play on. 2-0 is not much in hockey, but 3-0. Second period, they created some chances, mostly because of the powerplay, but in the third we closed the game well, summed contented LIF coach Andreas Appelgren for CMore.

Leksand got a dream start against domestic strong Växjö and could go up to 3-0 in less than ten minutes. 1-0 came after 5:13. Robin Gartner threw away a puck on goal, where Jens Bergenström steered it through Vaxjo hill Erik Martinsson and behind Cristopher Nilstorp. Big cheers, of course, for the LIF fans in place.

It would be more. Less than a minute and a half later, Robin Gartner put his first SHL goal in his 63rd game in the top flight. David Åslin released neat puck backwards between his legs on himself and then krutade the former MIC hill Gartner, the runner-up for Leksand.

– It was good traffic in front of goal, think it was Jensa (Mountain Stream) that obscured. It was about time I got put one said LIF hill to CMore on his first SHL goals.

David Åslin started briskly against his old team, and this was the first time the LIF striker returned to Vida Arena after moving from Växjö. Åslin was behind the visitors’ first two goals and that he had to “pay” for. Just half a minute after Leksand 2-0, he went on a tackle in the head by Gustav Rydhal.

A groggy Åslin needed help to get off the ice and did not return any more.

– The pictures speak for themselves. What are we talking about in hockey? Respect, said an upset Appelgren about rigging on Åslin

Rydahl also left the game because of a match penalty. LIF got the chance in five-minute power play and where Leksand showed why they are the top of the PP league. Mattias Ritola found with a pass through the box to Fabian Brunnstrom, dotted Nihlstorps left the check.

Then stood watch at 9:28. Leksand had another three minutes left in the five-minute numerical over the state. LIF had the chance to close the game, but no more goals were it not for the period.

– A good period on our part, said Gartner in the first break.

In the beginning of my period Vaxjo got the start they needed when Cory Murphy krutade scored after just 28 seconds.

The goal gave the home side the energy and being chased further reduction. After more than seven minutes of game time Vaxjo 7-1 in shots, but Oscar Alsenfelt played stable in the LIF bag.

In the midst of the onslaught stack Leksand up and Mattias Ritola was surprisingly alone in front of Stefan Steen who replaced Nihlstorp to others period. Steen rescued, but Ritola took the rebound and lifted easily into a backhand.

– We stood up well when Vaxjo pressed, but it sure got the goal timely, said Ritola to CMore.

Växjö were 17-7 in shots in my act, but Leksand could go in with a tremålsledning even in the second intermission.

In the third-dried Vaxjo not really threaten and instead could Fabian Brunnstrom nail earnings by about five minutes left . Brunnström was already quite close to bid on a konstmål few minutes earlier, when he spun around, free with Steen.

The goalkeeper saved, but the rebound hit Jon Knuts in. The goal was sentenced however removed, then Brunnström was considered to have interfered Vaxjo keeper.

Oscar Alsenfelt accounted for a very good game and stopped 39 of Växjö’s 40 shots.

Leksand lifted from the ground just over a week then after a number of victories.

But then came the team in a slump again and LIF came to Växjö with just one win in the last five matches. Now keep in Leksand finally up on the winning track again and is now on the same (31) points nästjumbon Modo.
