Masking Prohibition: “Will contribute to better arrangement” – Swedish Radio

That should be a criminal offense to be masked at sporting events, for people who disrupts or threatens to disrupt order. It proposes Sigurd Heuman in the government report he issued today.

– The prohibition shall not be general, but it should be tied to whether there is a system disturbance or a substantial risk of public disorder, says Sigurd Heuman.

As a person can be masked, go into the game and stay calm all the time, then it’s okay?

– Yes, then it’s okay, then it is not punishable.

According to the proposal, it must be given a fine or imprisonment up to six months for those who masquerades associated with sports events and at the same time disrupt order.

The question of masking has been investigated before. Former national coordinator against violence in sport, Björn Eriksson has stressed the need for a ban. And it is now, therefore it investigated more closely.

According to the Fundamental everyone has the right to speak and express their views, which also applies attire. But, says Sigurd Heuman, his bill does not go against it. Among other things, the ban does not persons for religious reasons covers her face, or if you dress up in full regalia to rough weather. What is what, is up to the police to assess.

Today was submitted proposals change in the law of the Interior Minister Anders Ygeman. He believes that a change in the law may be relevant January 1, 2016.

– I think it’s good. Destroy it football or ice hockey and cause mischief, then you should not be able to hide, says Anders Ygeman.

How can you do this balancing act, that is if it is “only” prohibited disguise themselves if they are arguing or there is a risk it?

– I think it’s pretty obvious if you’ve birdie braids or orange wig and is happy in the stands so there is no problem. But if you are trying to storm a different section of stands or throw percussion caps on the firefighters then it is part of a system disturbance.

Will there be a change in the law, do you?

– I think it will be a change in the law and I believe it will contribute to improving the orderliness of our football and hockey facilities.
