Erik Karlsson’s grief after coach’s death – Aftonbladet

Ottawa Senators assistant coach Mark Reeds got a while ago the news that he had cancer.

This summer was operated on him and he was back in the team when the season started in September.

A month ago, he was forced to leave the team again because of the disease – and yesterday came news that he had died, only 55 years old.

“given us a lot of motivation”

The endgame clear the club, with three Swedes, are in great sorrow and night expressed NHL team’s Swedish team captain Erik Karlsson his grief at the news.

– Ever since we got the news about a year ago so it has been with us. We still do the things he taught us, so he has been with us though he has not been here. So it has given us a lot of motivation, says Karlsson to the club’s website.

The 24-year-old also says that the personal tragedies of this kind is new to him.

– I have been lucky in my life and not lost someone close to me or the family.

– It’s one of the things that people handle different, and it’s tough. There is no right or wrong way to handle it, but the whole organization has done a great job. They have kept everyone informed and there is always someone to talk to, he said.
