Viktoria Helgesson, our best-ever female figure skater in modern times, going his last race as an elite athlete this weekend. It will be a farewell at home and Elite Series final in Skovde. But she does not leave the sport, but continues to be involved in the development of, as an ambassador for and most who participate in the future of figure skating.
?? It’s time for me to stop that elite athletes. I am not leaving the sport but will continue with figure skating, as a coach and choreographer. Skating has been with me all my life and will continue to do so in the future!
I have reached my peak, and feel finished with that part of my konståkningsliv. The decision has emerged. I have managed to do more than I ever dreamed of when I started skating for more than 20 years ago. I’ll take with me the memories of a lifetime, has seen so incredibly many amazing moments. Now I want to give back to the sport that has given me so much. Share my experiences and knowledge and hope to get many to experience the joy I have experienced through my sport, figure skating.
Thanks to my coach who has been with me on this amazing journey, from the first inserts for now. You have helped me grow as a skater and as a person, always believed in me, even when I did not believe in myself. Thanks Swedish Figure Skating Association, the Swedish Olympic Kommité, Stendörren and all sponsors over the years. Without you, my bet never been possible!
In particular I want to thank everyone who has supported me, pepped me and been there in every way for many years. I could not have done this without you! ??
Elite series finale will be held between 10 ?? 12 April in Skövde. The ladies go short program on Saturday afternoon and the finals on Sunday.
