Gretzer mentions that dressage do not want to shorten his program.
– They have grand prix program that takes eight minutes for each rider. They have come to realize that it might not be so very modern.
The IOC wants equestrian branches on the Olympic program – dressage, eventing and show jumping – to be take less time to implement, easier to understand and you want to get more nations without becoming more participants.
Ideally, you want the FEI that the changes to be made to all the championship – Olympic, World and European Championships.
– But it was someone who said the sports community that if the resistance is too large, we get at worst compromise and implement the changes only to the Olympics, says Gretzer.
The FEI would also shorten the equestrian World Cup from 15 to 9-10 days. You want to keep all eight branches, but suggests fewer contestants.
Given their role in the FEI’s working committee would not Gretzer talk about concrete proposals. But in general, she believes that it is important to make sports easier to understand and follow.
– As an expert commentator on Radio Sport, I have seen the sport a little more from outside and have their eyes in order to be able to make it more easily understandable and package format a little smarter and a little more fun.
It may take a couple of years before deciding to change. Olympic program in Rio de Janeiro next year is already established. The next equestrian world championships go by 2018.
