Mora-Nisse Karlsson has done it. Sixten Jernberg, Assar Rönnlund and Sven-Åke Lundbäck too.

Now, Johan Olsson put themselves in the line of legends who have won individual gold in the Olympics or the World Cup – and Vasaloppet.

On Friday, featuring the world’s greatest endurance race types – Team Santander – squad for next season. DN can reveal that a name is duplicated world champion Johan Olsson.

The main goal of the two-year initiative is to win the Vasaloppet. On the way, he wants to take home the entire cross country circus Ski Classics.

– Yes, of course. When I give myself into this as it is the case, it’s the motivation.

When Johan Olsson , Falun and the World Cup, he thought it was the last season that racers. Some recent days in Dalarna, one week later led him to start thinking in other courses. He was there to run the Vasaloppet race for Team Santander. An illness stopped him in the year but a spark was lit.

– When I was with the team in Åre and during Vasaloppet, I felt that this was something I was motivated by being with, says Olsson.

Still, it has been a few weeks before he took the final decision. Going for long-distance race – or get out of the civil work.

– What did it take some time due partly that I have had quite a few requests. But mostly it was all about to discuss with (wife) Anna and see opportunities in this effort.

The discussions very focused on getting together the elite venture with life as small children.

– I have been very inspired by the brothers (Anders and Jorgen) Auckland (Tord Asle) Gjerdalen how to do things differently. To continue in the ordinary national team, I had no motivation but now I go into something completely new. The level I had in the last three years in the traditional skiing, more than that, I will not. It’s my roof. Here I go into a new arena with the years I longed to go.

– I sent a text message the other day to Anders (Auckland) and wrote that I have not been this motivated in 15 years.

Team Santander’s manager Nils Marius Otterstad sitting with during the interview on a hotels in Stockholm. He has been in contact with Johan Olsson since 2010. When the Swedish world champion is now ready looks Otterstad say the least complacent out.

– We look at Johan Olsson who in 2007 we looked at Anders Auckland. He had also had a fantastic trip and burned to win the Vasaloppet, said Otterstad.

– For us in the team, it is important to bring in John as the motivator he is, without knowing it. Johan is a leader in the team. The other riders have tremendous respect for the athletes who have done great things but are motivated to do new things.

One thing Otterstad attracted with the contacts that can be linked through the team then shall facilitate to take the plunge into the civilian workplace.

When I ask about Johan Olsson will succeed – whether he will win the Vasaloppet – get me two different reactions.

Otterstad nods smile. Olsson draws on the mouth in a gesture of doubt. Then he says.

– The foundation of my success is that I doubt. I think it is quite good to doubt but that you also have people around who believe in one.

– When I met the team in Åre said Jorgen (Auckland) that “you have shown that you may be the world best classic skiers, you have shown that you may be the world’s best skaters skaters, now you can show that you may be the world’s best stakåkare “.

To achieve’ll Johan Olsson embark on a trip he knows will be heavy. He tested Årefjällsloppet, finished eleventh and got an insight.

– It was a good deal harder than femmil, that I thought probably not. But I feel that this is where the opportunity is for me, it’s about having the capacity.

But now Olsson forget the ability to grind down opponents with diagonal skiing uphill. He can forget about skiing with kick wax.

Now he will learn to chart in nine mil. The fathers tracks until time wins.
