Billstam defended the World Championship gold – Vasterbotten Courier

Sports Telegram The blue and yellow success continues in the orienteering world championships in Scotland. Annika Billstam, 39, went out as the final starting in the middle distance race and succeeded in defending his gold from last year. With the winning time 35.46 won Billstam 50 seconds before the Finnish silver medalist Merja Rantanen.

Annika Billstam was not the only Swede on the podium. Hidden ice Emma Johansson was heading for a really great race and gazed out to take the World Championship gold. But a rough miss the end of the track made the 33-year-old dropped just over a minute, and finally got Johansson settle for bronze – her first World Cup medal of his career.
Earlier in the World Cup, Sweden has won gold and bronze in sprint by Jonas Leandersson and jerker lysell. The men’s middle distance races determined later today.
