World of Sarah Sjöström – in the semifinals – Aftonbladet

KAZAN. Sarah Sjostrom went on to beat the world record, but it was not really so.

She hit it. She slaughtered there.

– I felt already in use, she says.

She has made amazing races before, but it is a difference between dialing a 50-meter record at a non-Olympic distance in a Championship in Borås to attend a World Cup pool with the stated goal of swimming faster than any woman ever made.

Sarah Sjostrom did in Kazan.

And she was successful.

Smashed everything

In the semifinal of the favorite distance is 100 meter butterfly, she went rather quiet, and connected gripping first after 30 meters. She turned at 26.46 – and she turned quickly.

– I came well out of the turnaround, and it was enough … she laughs a few minutes after the race.

In Case She had crushed everything simhistorien so far seen over the distance, swam 1.3 seconds faster than the nearest competitor Jeanette Ottesen, Denmark, and stood with both head and shoulders above everyone and everything with one day to go until the World Cup final and one year left OS.

But … it was not a perfect race?

– No, it will never be perfect, it will never be, but … it was a good second femtia. It’s very fun, I’ve been waiting for this world record time so it’s really fun that I get to this World Cup. The plan was to try to beat it in the semi-finals already, the finale is usually just about to come first to the finish. It’s really fun that I succeed.

Final on Tuesday

The first half was fast but not super fast – and the finish looked far from being impaled out.

– I do not know … I have not had time to think. But no, it was good, said Sarah Sjöström.

The American Dana Vollmer has been the reigning world record holder since she swam 55.98 in the London Olympics in 2012. Now we 55.74 and Sarah Sjostrom, a time who will stand … at least until Monday evening.

When swimming Sarah Sjostrom again.

No one else is supposed to be nearby.
