Callejas was president of Honduras in the early 90s and later president of the country’s football federation. Currently, he is in television and marketing committee of the international football association FIFA.
Now, he is one of those that the United States accuses of the steadily growing multi-million scandal of bribery, racketeering and fraud in top football.
Yesterday it became known that the ex-president among the 16 new people with links to Fifa suspects in the United States. Several of the new on the list, was arrested in a luxury hotel in Zurich at the crackdown Swiss police did yesterday.
Callejas rejects, however, the US allegations and says he is ready to clear his name.
honduran Alfredo Hawit, president of the Football Association for North and Central America and the Caribbean, also get their bank assets frozen in Honduras. He was also one of those arrested during polisräderna in Switzerland.
Even the president of the South American Football Association, Juan Ángel Napout, were arrested.
Both Hawit and Napout, who were interrogated yesterday, has objected to the extradition to the United States.
