Doped star close to a comeback: Do not want to see him here – Göteborgs-Posten

Johannes Dürr was the king of the Tour de Ski two years ago before he was suspended for doping. Now he wants to get back to the World Cup. Something that makes competitors to rage.

– I do not want to see him here again! He should be off for life, says Maurice Manificat Expressen.

The Expressen revealed that Johannes Dürr fights for a comeback in the World Cup in March. The former top skier who went there after having tested positive for blood doping can be stopped by the Austrian Ski Association.

– We suspect that Dürr will appeal and claim to stop him from working as a cross country skier. He called me too, actually. I did not recognize the number so I answered, but as soon as I heard it was John so I finished the call. I do not want to talk to him, says Markus Gandler sports director of the Austrian Ski Association Expressen.

The Dürr now struggling to make a comeback is something which angers several of the established stars of the Tour de Ski.

– He’ll make a comeback? It is terrible that after one of those serious doping offense can come back so fast, says the Swedish star Emil Jönsson.

– I do not want to see him here again! I think he should be off for life, says Maurie Manificat, Expressen.
