Val di Fiemme / STOCKHOLM. Charlotte Kalla finished as best Swedish fifth place in the women’s mass start.
The winner was Heidi Weng – who took his first World Cup victory ever.
– Is it true? She has certainly had an upward trend, it is much fun that she finally gets to be first across the finish line. That I do not begrudge her really, says Kalla.
It was a triple Norwegian at the top of the women’s mass start. The winner was Heidi Weng, before ingvild flugstad østberg and Therese Johaug.
And when Charlotte Kalla – who finished fifth – are told that it is Wengs first World Cup victory ever, she is surprised.
– Is it true? She has certainly had an upward trend, it is much fun that she finally gets to be first across the finish line. That I do not begrudge her, really. She is a breath of fresh air and always so positive and the extent of others, she says.
– But God what fun.
Meanwhile mean Swede it is still Johaug which is the favorite.
– Therese’s favorite, definitely. She has shown that she is incredibly strong in the climb and there’s not many that can be rough on her, she says.
Source: “Was a little frustration”
Ahead of tomorrow’s cold four in total – something she sees as a good starting point.
– It’s inspiring to be able to advance. It’s big distances up so there’s an incentive in itself to try to keep Finnish hands behind her, she says.
– It’s just out and have fun and be prepared for pain and be happy when you come up on top after eight days of competition.
At the same time she did not give a straight answer about what she thinks of her performance in today’s mass start.
– I want to digest it a little but I think I have done what I have been able today, says Kalla.
She was not able to completely get to the skis, and was wrestling with the stuck snow under them.
– It was after all that kicking and some frustration in that they not only had to slip on over the crests. But the last lap I was able to tag and just kept on, she says.
Ingemarsdotter: “Will a mental fight”
IDA INGEMARSDOTTER went heavier – and she finished in 24: th place. After the race, telling her that she had too much grip.
– Had it been rock climbing, I had been able to walk right up to this day I say, says Ingemar Daughter.
– As it has has been now that the snow changed quite close and personal start so the margins between hitting the right and hit the wrong subtle. And in any case, on my skis, we were probably not on the right side of the border.
And she admits that it is heavy when the skis do not work.
– I have been involved in more fun contests I can say. It becomes a mental battle when you feel you do not have stuff. You can close the bloody but you do not have the stuff it does not matter.
