Tightly blaring in windy biathlon races – Västerbotten Courier

It blew properly when the ladies competed in the biathlon sprint in the World Cup in Canmore, Canada.

The strong winds destroyed many of the favorites. When the wind died down did the normally weaker riders at the end of the field a chance to do something really good.

The most successful Olena Pidhrushna, Ukraine, who won the race 7.5 seconds before Krystyna Guzik, Poland, and 12, 4 before Dorothea Wierer, Italy. It was Pidhrusjnas second victory in his career.

The most happy was probably fifth grade Baiba Bendika. The 24-year-old Latvian had previously been among the top 40 and taken the World Cup points.

– I’m very tired but I was lucky with the wind. I am very happy, she said to TV12.

Emma Nilsson finished in 42nd place and was the best Swedish.

– Maybe it was a case forward even if it was not an optimum race. It was tough, heavy legs, said Nilsson.
