Blåvitts young central defender Benjamin Zalo forced to operate on his injured foot. An operation that keeps him away from the game a long time.
Now look Blåvitt after deputies in their ranks.
– We will not bring in someone from outside because of this, says IFK Gothenburg sporting director Mats Gren to GC.
IFK Gothenburg’s Norwegian defender Benjamin Zalo injured foot when he played with his former club Eagle-Horten last fall.
– It is a great pity. The entire pre-season so we hoped we would be able to see where he stands and how much progress he takes. He was the first time just three days before we went to training camps. Since it has been on and off all the time because it has not released in the foot, says Mats Gren.
An injury which he learned since then and is now forcing him to surgery on Thursday where loose pieces of bone will be removed and a ligament injury will be addressed.
– It becomes unfortunately. He came after with an injury that happened during the penultimate match in Norway. The idea and the idea was that we would do it, but that he would undergo surgery, says Mats Gren continues:
– From the beginning it was a small question marks from our medical department. Unfortunately, it has not gone ahead and gotten so much better as you have hoped and believed in.
Zalo is now gone the whole spring. A heavy news for Blåvitt drawn with major injury problems in the middle of the lock and in Sunday’s Cup tie against Halmstad forced to move into Haitam Aleesami in central defense.
But IFK Göteborg will not venture out in the transfer market to find a replacement. Rather than looking man in their ranks.
– Now we get to see a little bit how things are going with Thomas (Rogne). Then we have the opportunity to take up any of the U-squad too. We have some who are talented central defenders there. We will not bring in someone from outside because of this.
Who U-squad’s the question?
– Both Oscar Kind Lund and Alexanderplatz Leksell have been involved and trained a lot. Maybe even August Erling Mark who has taken several steps now at the end. That’s three in a position that is clearly closest.
