Exodus from the cup after the new pale insert – SvenskaFans.com

Elfsborg could only look on as Carl Johansson headed the 0-1 in the 83 ‘minute, the only goal.

In a decisive match in which would come first in Group 4 of the Swedish Cup, needed a victory Elfsborg and Kalmar FF which only needed to get a point away from Boras, they were ready. So it was a crucial match, a “final” you might say. It was a great thrill simply. The 856 spectators got to see a Kalmar that went from winning the battle and went ahead of the group. Quarterfinals next will they Smålanders.

line-ups for Saturday’s match were treated to not direct any surprises. Viktor Prodell started this match, he was benched last game. Per Frick does not sit on the bench because he’s injured for 6-8 weeks according Borås Tidning. Jesper Mann sat on the bench after a long injury hell with lårskador, hip surgery and a concussion. In Kalmar’s David Elm away because he had taken a timeout. Viktor Elm was injured, only Rasmus Elm of the three Elm brothers started this match.

Poor start
The first ten minutes of the match was quite boring actually. Most ball on my plan. The first hot scoring chance came in the 13th minute. Last Halmstad player Marcus Antonsson got the ball when he ran into the depths, conned a Elfsborg defender and shot. Kevin Stuhr Ellegaard could quickly go down and take the ball safely. In the 27th minute came the first scoring chance for Elfsborg when Simon Hedlund, a long pass and the former England pro Ole Soderberg went out to knock the ball away. But while he does it, he knocks Sebastian Starke Hedlund. The ball goes to Claesson who see that Simon Hedlund had a perfect location to 1-0 by nodding it for Kalmar’s goalie was out of position. The ball went just wide.

At the end of the half Simon Hedlund got the ball on the depth, got the ball at their feet, fired a shot that was bad and Soderberg could pick it easily. Immediately afterwards countered Kalmar with the ball. Marcus Antonsson got the ball and fired away a hard shot by Ellegaard had problems with, but finally made it. On a corner from Elfsborg which ended with Simon Lundevall pulled the ball in and Elfsborg got a corner that did not succeed. It was the last thing that happened in the half. Kalmar immediately began to dominate the game, even if you did not get into some hot chances so be it through the entire half good. Elfsborg were useless first 25, then they came into the game. They got better and better. Got a couple hot locations in the end. Simon Hedlund got started and was good at the end of the half. Kalmar striker Marcus Antonsson ran and ran all the time.

17-year-old talent settled the game
Immediately after the second half had launched Kalmar was close to taking the lead. Antonsson played until Jonathan Ring who ran himself free but where Kevin made himself great and picked the ball. In the 51th minute came the first warning of the match, Viktor Prodell tackles Nouri and got a yellow card. After that came Rasmus Elm with a nice pass to Tobias Eriksson is completely free and got the ball away, but where Ellegaard once again managed to take the ball. A cruel rescue. Fifteen minutes in the second half you could see that Kalmar had game and really was everywhere. Elfsborg tried and tried, but Kalmar did it very well. Marcus Rohdén got the lead after the second warning in the 64th minute after he stopped a counterattack and brought Romario. Romario was given three minutes after Rohdéns yellow, a yellow card when he went into going against Rohdén. They were really ugly.

In 69 minutes Rasmus Elm pulled off a shot just outside the penalty area, but the ball went over the bar. Shortly afterwards shot Isamel a distance shot straight at Ellegaard. Elfsborg went down on a trebackslinje in the 72nd minute when Liridon Gashi went out instead of Emir Bajrami, an aggressive change of Elfsborg. Isamel got off a shot to the right after the change, but it went to Kevin again. 1-0 to Kalmar became the 83rd minute after a cross from Emin Nouri and 17th year old talent Calle Johansson jumped up and headed in his first goal for Kalmar. Ellegaard was chance at the nick. The third warning for Elfsborg went to Simon Hedlund after he was tackled down Rasmus Elm ugly. Ole Söderberg was booked for masking the last regular minutes. It was the last of the ranking that happened in the match. Kalmar is on for the quarterfinals of the Cup. Elfsborg had no chances at all in the second half.

Elfsborg play Europe still lucky
If I were to summarize it a bit so it is too bad that Elfsborg went out already in the group stage, a fiasco, I would say. Now Elfsborg must help to reach Europe by either AIK or Norrköping wins the Cup. You could see after the game that the Elfsborg players were so incredibly disappointed that there was not. Viktor Claesson never really got into the game, as well as Viktor Prodell. The two that stood out today was Simon Hedlung and Kevin Stuhr Ellegaard. Simon for his throwaway all the time all over the field. Kevin for his amazing saves that saved Elfsborg from maybe 3-0 loss.

Kalmar dominated almost the entire match, a fair result simply. Workhorse Marcus Antonsson ran and never ended well. Rasmus Elm is back, so I really feel. He was the best on the pitch today, was everywhere and created lots. It will be exciting to see him in the spring, perhaps even in the European Championship squad ?! Want congratulate Kalmar to victory.

Elfsborg starting eleven:
Kevin Stuhr Ellegaard – Liridon Gashi (Emir Bajrami 72), Jorgen Horn, Anders Randrup, Adam Lundqvist – Simon Hedlund, Marcus Rohdén, Henning Hauger, Simon Lundevall (Lasse Nilsson 76) – Viktor Claesson – Viktor Prodell.

Kalmar starting eleven:
Ole Soderberg – Emin Nouri, Marko Biskupovic, Sebastian Starke Hedlund, Viktor Agardius – Jonathan Ring (Stefan Larsson 85), Rasmus Elm, Ishmael, Tobias Eriksson – Romario (Calle Johansson 72), Marcus Antonsson.

Elfsborg

It was in the Swedish Cup and guests of the day were Assyriska FF, also called “Full Södertälje law”. A remarkable thing was that the ball was not white, but orange, a so-called “snowball”, then the ball you should have when there is snow.
