Oscar Pistorius penalty can be much harder than what he was sentenced to October.
Prosecutors have been given permission to appeal against the original judgment – and claims now at least 15 years imprisonment for murder.
It was in October that Oscar Pistorius was convicted of culpable Homicide, something that Swedish law is most comparable to involuntary manslaughter, after fatal shooting of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.
The South African sprint star was sentenced to five years in prison, with the possibility to be out in ten months.
The decision is welcomed
Wednesday morning meant, however, bad news for Pistorius. Thokozile Masipa, Judge of the Supreme Court in Pretoria, granted during the morning Prosecutors their application to appeal the precipitate of culpable Homicide.
According to Reuters, will prosecutors now to claim that Pistorius is convicted of murder. It would mean that sprint star’s penalty tightened significantly.
The South African public prosecutor welcome in a statement Masipas vengeance. At the same time notes that Pistorius should be sentenced to “at least” 15 years in prison.
