PSG have to sell Zlatan Ibrahimovic to grow “- Aftonbladet

Andrew Gibney is convinced.

To Paris Saint-Germain to take the next step you have to do away with Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

– PSG need stars that are part of the club, not greater than, writes columnist FourFourTwo.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic missed ten games for his Paris Saint- Germain because of injury.

After returning the headings have been about the Swede’s influential action against Ajax, Nice and Nantes. But despite Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored on all three teams – and although he stood for 64 goals in 76 league games in France – should the club do away with him to take the next step.

This is the opinion columnist Andrew Gibney heavy magazine FourFourTwo:

– It may sound crazy to release a player who made 43 goals in the Champions League, but sometimes it does not matter how good the player is. His presence makes teammates gets worse, writes Gibney.

“no doubt”

He believes that Edinson Cavani, seven goals in ten matches in Zlatan’s absence, comes into its own without the Swedish superstar at his side.

Meanwhile, Javier Pastore more outlet for his imagination around the center circle when there is no Zlatan that drops down to retrieve the ball.

– There is no doubt that both South Americans blossomed and become key figures in the PSG when they escaped play in Zlatan’s shadow. Even coach Laurent Blanc has been able to stir the pot and play 4-3-1-2 instead of 4-3-3. The Raiders have seen much more comfortable with it, reason Gibney, adding:

– PSG need superstars who are part of the club, no bigger than it.

“Must say goodbye”

To PSG should be able to fulfill the dream – that Gibney says has switched to a realistic goal – to win the Champions League you have to sell the 33-year-old “Ibra”.

– PSG will be grateful for the role Ibrahimovic has played for the club in recent years, but nothing lasts for ever. They have to go into the next era with a new frontman. Right now it is a little “catch 22″: Without him PSG no contenders for the Champions League title, but to grow as a club you have to say goodbye.

Zlatan came to Paris Saint-Germain for the season 2012/13, along with teammate and world-hill Thiago Silva.
