Rosenberg extends to Malmo in 2017 – Expressen

Malmo FF’s star striker Markus Rosenberg extends with the club.

The team captain has signed a contract that extends to 2017 – and expects to finish his career in the MFF.

– This allows both me and the club to be sure that I am here this year and the next two and I can even begin to prepare me for life after football, says Markus Rosenberg.

Markus Rosenberg made great success last year when he came home to Malmö FF after years abroad.

After a national championship, blockbusters in the Premier League and Champions League games told MFF striker that he wanted to extend his contract.

For a while in the winter saw the negotiations appear to have stalled, but during the training camp in Florida told Rosenberg for the Evening Post that negotiations would resume with the hope to extend for a further year.

Now it is clear.

Malmo FF announced on Friday that Markus Rosenberg has extended his contract for another year. The new agreement covers over the season 2017.

– I got some deals this winter to go somewhere else and then I felt that it was tempting but I wanted to be in Malmo FF. After that I started and Daniel Andersson (MFF’s sporting director) a discussion that actually lasted for a long time where I wanted to extend my contract so that I had three years left in total, says Markus Rosenberg in a press release.



Thinking about life after his career

– This allows both me and the club to be sure that I’m here this year and the next two and I can even begin to prepare me for life after football, says Markus Rosenberg.

Once the new contract expires’s Markus Rosenberg 35 years. MFF-captain therefore expect that he will end his career in the parent club Malmö FF.

– As it now feels so be it. But then it is always difficult to predict the future, but we’ll see how it goes, says Rosenberg.

– I feel fresh in the body. The only major difference from when you were younger is that it is harder day after we played the game. Once we play the match, there is no problem. But, I’ll be realistic so goes my new contract is for three years and it feels like I should be able to keep the same level all the way.



“A huge asset”

Malmo FF ‘s sporting director Daniel Andersson is happy to have been able to extend key player Rosenberg.

– Mark did a fantastic season last year and has been a tremendous asset to us – both on the pitch but also outside. He came home to Malmö FF and has demonstrated its willingness and drive to there are at least three more years left in his body. We are glad that we can shoot for another year on his contract and we are delighted that Markus wants to continue in the MFF and probably end his career here, says Malmo FF’s sporting director Daniel Andersson in the same press release.
