Sundbys response after nightmare race – Aftonbladet

Did you think Martin Johnsrud Sundby was about to collapse?

Today bounced Norwegian back from Wednesday’s nightmare race and finished second.

– This is a Sundby we recognize, says SVT’s expert Anders Blomquist.

Martin Johnsrud Sundby had a bleak day on Wednesday. In the Tour de skis fifth leg of the eight came nirmalt omutbare Norwegian only place 23, so the distance to the overall runner-up Petter Northug shrank to 47 seconds.

After the modest placement was today’s stage in Toblach, 10 kilometers of skating , very interesting. Failure was an isolated case, or is the 31 year old worn out?

Duel against Krogh

The response we got after two kilometers.

Sundby was second there, 1.1 seconds behind the Russian Sergey Ustiugov. On the next lap time – 6.7 kilometers – was the Norwegian in the lead. From there to the finish it became a duel between Sundby and his compatriot Finn Haagen Krogh. Ultimately it was Krogh – seventh in total for the day – which was the fastest, but the stage had to say two winners.

in the second place shrugs Sundby in the Tour de skis peak. Petter Northug just came in fifteenth place, which means that he first must defend his second place in total against the third-place Ustiugov.

Burman became the best Swedish

Since Emil Jönsson left the tour made up the Swedish team of four Swedes. Oskar Svensson came on the scene 52, Simon Andersson in place 40, Carl Quick Lund in place 28 and Jens Burman became the best Swedish at location 27.

– It was a good race for me. It was the World Cup points. I had set a goal, says Burman to SVT.

Two stages remain in the Tour de Ski: tomorrow’s 15 km classic and Sunday’s race the slalom slopes of Alpe Cermis.
