VIK Västerås HK are in fifth place in the hockey league and has had a heavy winter. Now select the club to make changes.

Vasteras kicks coach Martin Filander and sports manager Niklas Johansson.

“A very long slump”

In contrast, Tomas Mitell be remain as assistant coach. He forms a trio with former Leksand duo Andreas Appelgren, Johan Rosen.

– There are decisions that management and the Board have made uniformly together. We are satisfied that we have implemented it, it’s results we are after. We have had a slump since the end of October and not won so many matches, played many settled and lost a lot of the shootout, said club director Johan Fägerblad.

The squad is good enough to win more games ?

– I mean with certainty. Since I’m not a huge knowledgeable hockey man. But there are many hockey knowledgeable who say that it is not the squad is faulty.

You will not solicit any player, then?

– No, we will not do.

“Into the fire at once”

Andreas Appelgren, who took over Leksands IF the SHL in 2013, leading the team from Thursday. This weekend is waiting game between Västerås IK and Leksand.

– It’s really cool games. It gets into the fire at one time, it will be really fun actually, says Appelgren.

He left his job as coach of LIF in February 2015. After that, he had a break from the hot air.

– It was hard on energy last year. It was a conscious choice to get some rest from training mission in the autumn. But now I’m really eager to come back. Meanwhile, I have followed Vasteras quite sure because I followed SHL and the league during the season. I also feel Mitell who is the assistant there. I have followed them closely and think they have a very interesting squad.

What is the aim of VIK?

– If you look back in recent months, they have gained very little matches. So the goal is to win games. Putting up that you should win all the matches, or get up and hunt down those up there are mostly empty words. I think neither supporters or sponsors want to hear the clichés, they want to see the team win games. We must find a way to win games and we have to start quickly.

Can you rejoice if you strike Leksand weekend?

– A difficult question. We’ll see how it feels then. But obviously it is that I have many friends there and had four wonderful years there. It’s a club that I feel extra for. But that was then, and then it is now. And now it Vasteras applicable, it comes to winning at once.
