Sweden won the European Championship premier tactics after the coup – Aftonbladet

VARAZDIN. Handball ladies had a dream opening in EM.

Behind the victory was, among other things, a surprising western players and Johanna Carter’s (!) in the target.

– We have trained extensively on it but kept it a secret, says Ulrika Agren on the west trick in the win against Croatia with 30-28.

Croatia was the favorite in Group C in the power of home.

Then came the Swedish women out and destroyed the Croatian EM party directly on to win by 30-28 and gave themselves a perfect opening on the European Championship.

Sweden surprised to consistently take out the goalie and put an outfield player (Johanna Carter’s) when you got a player sent off.

“Training lot on the “

We’ve seen it more often at home in the elite series but the national team chose to hide it in the training matches against Brazil to bring an element of surprise in the European Championships.

– We have trained extensively on it but kept it a secret, says Ulrika Ågren.

There was a bit of a success recipe when Sweden only lost four expulsions against Croatia with a total of two goals.

– There will be a normal attacking game, says Carter’s, which is something of a specialist in the role of “Western players.”

She has played with the vest both in Viborg and Esbjerg in the Danish league.

One of the most spectacular situations in the game was when Carter’s did not have time to change but had to stand in goal a piece into the second half. She took the opportunity to save a shot from Maja Zebic, which incidentally struck hardest in the entire game with a shot at 97 km / h, and kept a clean sheet.

– There is a näsräddning, it is not wise! Stop standing in the goal now, you will be the best of all time, cheered expert Claes Hellgren in TV4.

Carter’s:

– It was a pretty good location for me. The shot took a little on the cheek, she laughs.

“It’s embarrassing”

Heavy for Zebic of course.

– You do not want to miss out on a field player who standing in goal. It’s embarrassing, says Carter’s.

The teammates are not surprised that Carter’s stood in goal for the save.

– She had a save percentage of 80 per cent when we played together in Viborg . It’s insane. She always save. When she stands so I just think that now we need hardly defend us, says Isabelle Gulldén.

Sweden has now gained an excellent position to progress from the group with four points and thus acquire stroke position in other group stage to reach the semifinals.

– This was perfect. It feels like there are two teams that suited us quite well, says Carter’s.

The team captain Sabina Jacobsen:

– This is a dream scenario.
