“My focus will be 100 meters butterfly and 200 meters freestyle,” said Sarah Sjöström.

– Given the way the program looks in the Olympics, we have decided to do it this way. I think it would be foolish to run the 100-meter butterfly and then take it easy for a few days, continues Sarah.

The news is something unexpectedly. In this summer’s World Championships in Kazan chose Sarah Sjostrom namely away to swim 200 meters freestyle individual even though she is one of the world’s fastest over the distance.

– I will split the Olympics in four days at a time where I will work hard on the four first days. When we aim for medals. Then, I will restart my head. The last four days, which will sprint days, I’ll just enjoy and do not add any medal pressure on myself. Since we know that anything can happen in a championship and it’s clear that I want to swim fast in the 50 and 100 meters freestyle as well. I make a good start to the 50 free, I can type win, says Sarah.

– But the last four days will medley team to be more in focus than 50 and 100.

Both the Olympic final on Sarah Sjostrom parade distance 100m butterfly, where she is both the world record holder and World Championship gold medalist, and the finals in the 200 meters freestyle is decided during the competitions’ first four days.

– 200 meters has always been important, but during the World Cup, we decided to try a different approach to really have tried everything for the Olympics in Rio. The training has always 200 been included as a priority distance and therefore it was the right course for us to take distance in the Olympic program, says Carl Jenner.

In addition to the four individual Olympic distances will Sarah also to swim three lagkapper 4×100 meters freestyle, 4×200 meters freestyle and the 4×200 meters medley.

The World Championships in Kazan Sweden took silver in the medley lagkappen and came fourth in both freestyle relay engines.

– I think it’s great to swim relay engines. It takes no energy but provide energy. When I swim relay are I never get nervous, but do it mostly because it’s fun to be a part of a team, says Sarah.

After four weeks leave Sarah has now started building training for the Olympics in Rio. As part of the traveling she and several of the other national team swimmers, on Friday to the Sierra Nevada for a three-week-long training camp at altitude.

– This training session is the pesky and kämpiga but it is just to do it. A höghöjdsläger is in many ways a mental exercise that has great benefit. When it’s hardest to get remind himself that, after all, has a comfortable living during these weeks. The only thing you need to consider is training. All food is served, no need to wash dishes, and there is no stress factor at all, says Sarah.

During the fall and winter Sarah as usual to compete sparingly.

– The autumn usually go so fast that it does not have time for as many competitions as without it must be spring.
