Lina Hurtig headed in the first goal when a new generation of Swedish national team showed the way against Poland. Sweden finally won the European Championship qualifier encounter 3-0.

– It’s probably like a new beginning for everyone now says 20- year-old.

Hurtig made her only the third international and Ericsson their fifth, while U19 comrade Malin Diaz, who later made the 3-0-goal, made his 15th.

Meanwhile, although Olivia Schough got a fresh start for the national team. She got another play from the start alongside Lotta Schelin and Sofia Jakobsson in the attack and was the scorer of the second game in a row, with a volley from close range to 2-0 shortly after halftime.

– It is wonderful that we for the first time in a long time have such competition in the team, says coach Pia Sundhage. – I am totally convinced that even those who have been long known that there is a competitive situation.

“Good start”

for the early exodus from the World Cup last summer. But neither the match against Moldova on Thursday or against Poland on Tuesday night was no real measure of value for 4-3-3 lineup – at least not defensively.

Offensively saw it, however good. Sweden created plenty of chances and had probably made a few goals if not Polish goalkeeper Daria Antonczyk had great playing.
