Karl’s first win on the European Tour – Aftonbladet

The first win is always special.

Rikard Karlberg made sure to spice up his first win on the European Tour further.

– to address my first win and to do that against Kaymer, it feels incredible, he says to Viasat.

European Tour Open d’Italia was smooth, smooth.

And it would also require a playoff to distinguish Rikard Karlberg and German Martin Kaymer access.

Both players finished at 19-under-par total, but in särspelet Swedes were sharper than the former world number one.

On the second attempt at the 18th hole, he rolled in the birdie that meant that Göteborg could celebrate his first victory on the European Tour.

“Had a bit of luck”

– To take my first win and to do that against Kaymer, it feels incredible, says Karlberg to Viasat.

– I was just trying to hit the fairway, which I was not close to do and to see him fold right on the felt “okay, I will not win on his mistakes, I need to make a birdie,” and found the perfect length to the last stroke. I had little luck so it felt really good.

Karlberg was not the only successful Swede in the competition. Joakim Lagergren and Jens Fahrbring shared third place.
