Emma Johansson’s goal: World Championships – Sveriges Radio

Sweden’s biggest cycling star right now Emma Johansson got the worst possible start to the season with a collarbone fracture.

Emma Johansson on the way back.

– Then I recovered myself really well and from the month of June, I have had good results and good body and good head. Everything has gone really well lately, pepper, pepper, she says to Radiosporten.

Emma Johansson won the World Cup dress rehearsal Lotto Belgium Tour and she also usually perform at the World Championship road race. She took the World Championship bronze last year and silver the previous year.

– It is clear that we are aiming high. It is the top of the podium that I want to stand on. But then you have to manage to get it all out on that particular day.

Eurosport cycling commentator Roberto Vacchi think Emma Johansson has a great chance this time, not least thanks to the track in Richmond suits her.

– It is mainly the last three kilometers of the track where it goes up and be tough until the finish line. It will fit Emma very well. She has a nice finish, and especially in those hills.

And so here I think Emma Johansson myself that the race will be.

– In most championships usually start pretty awesome often with consistently high speed. The first two laps are intense, then perhaps it calms down a bit with some attacks. I hope it does not go off a few groups, but we will have everything under control. And it will be offensive execution in the end and that it could set off a smaller group then.

What are your toughest competitors?

– The strongest nations are well Italy, Holland and the USA. Since there are some nations with individual strong cyclists England with Lizzie Armitstead and

France, with reigning world champion Pauline Ferrand-Prevot says Emma Johansson.

In the evening at seven o’clock Swedish time will start the women’s road race and the question is whether Emma Johansson will take a third straight World Cup medal.
