Ekblom took the chance – everything is decided in the final race – Nerikes Allehanda

Fredrik Ekblom took the start from pole position in Saturday’s first STCC race final at Skåne Knutstorp, and dominated the race from the lead.
Thus did the Volvo driver from Örebro what was required to keep the championship duel against teammate Thedford Birch Bang-Melchior into the season’s final heat, which is determined 15:20 in the afternoon.
– It feels fantastic. Damn fun to take pole and win from pole. Sweetest victory of the year, clearly, said Ekblom to SVT.
SVT: How was the feeling at the start?
– The feeling? Stressed, if you say so. Got a bit pushed by Rickard who got a better start than I got.
– I got a very good start and “helped” Fredrik down to the first corner, grinned Göransson to SVT.

Birch, who started from the second box, did exactly what he said beforehand, leaving large margins and took it deliberately quiet through the first corners to avoid incidents.
– In order not to cause it something tried I have nothing on the outside. It was tactically and stable to put behind. But it became very sweaty behind. I am happy with third place, had projected a fifth place elle RSA, says Björk to SVT.
For out on the second lap was Björk four brick at the back of Daciaföraren Mattias Andersson and myself with Saab driver Emma Kimiläinen in the back. The three lay like a train in about ten laps before Björk fielded an attack on the start straight (!) And squeezed past Andersson for third place.

Thus cashed Birch 15 points in championship and lost “only” ten out of the 30 he was before Ekblom. Orebro Comforter Richard Göransson, Saab, where large parts of the race the fastest on the track, but had to settle for second place behind Ekblom, could never attack Ekblom.
Before the season’s last race, where Björk starts from the tenth box and Ekblom from ninth, has Karlskoga driver 363 points in the championship table, from Örebro

343. The win gives 25 points. A seventh place in the final race is enough to Björk will secure his third consecutive championship title even if Ekblom wins the race.
– The Thedford championship, this. He loses this, he damn unlucky. But I’ll give it what I have, and then you never know, said Ekblom to SVT.

Other STCC race, where it is determined whether Birch or Ekblom takes the title, will start therefore 15:20.
