Silver-Stina in tears after medal Drama – Helsingborgs Dagblad

After the race disappeared Stina Nilsson and coach Richard Griffin quickly from the end zone against the competition office. At the same moment the stadium announcer reported that the medals behind the winning Norway was taken back.

– First, I was very, very sad because I thought I had lost the silver. For the jury, I got to justify how I acted and when I saw it on film so I had no alternative and nowhere to go. Then, I had to go into her and ruin her day in total. I valued that it was most fair if I took this in stride instead of running into her, explained Stina Nilsson after the race.

It was on the last leg as the drama unfolded. Stina Nilsson, in fourth place, struggled to advance in the field behind the Norwegian leader Maiken Caspersen Falla who had snatched away. Stina Nilsson fought with Germany and Poland on the medal when she tried to get past the German Denise Herrmann on the inside. To avoid a collision, she ran outside banmarkeringen.

A washing hung in the air and it would have given Germany a bronze, but Denise Herrmann was determined.

– There was not any reason that she would be disqualified, did the German.

The jury agreed with her. And after telling joy was even greater for Stina Nilsson and the tears came back.

– I did not want to take the silver in Ida, she explained.

Ida Ingemarsdotter was the one that really set the tone on Sunday. In the semifinals, she was the of Swedes who went best. Stina Nilsson had it tough initially. The body did not respond as she wanted and for the finale, she decided a different charge.

She went and lay down in one of the Swedish national team’s cars at the stadium and rested with music in your ears. She remained most of the hours that went before it was time for the final.

– I wanted to go down and fetch new energy, she explained.

When she was back in the starting line she was full tank.

– In the finals, I wanted to make the best of every situation. I was especially psyched to get revenge, she said.

The first three laps, Sweden had contact with

Norway but then grew backlash. It became a battle of the other two medals between Sweden, Germany and Poland.

Germany’s Denise Herrmann went Stina Nilsson past after she drove off banmarkeringen. Poland’s Sylwia Jaśkowiec she passed first in the sprint a few meters before the finish line.

– I go faster when I pressured by anyone. That I had not been able to get to anywhere else, said Stina Nilsson who is now the one who has the most Swedish medals at world championships and become a new Swedish ski star.

– It’s more fun than I thought to have a World Cup on home soil. I did not think it could be as many as could be my name. Stina Stina I heard the screaming and it was really fun.
