Sweden had needed Olsson at all distances “- Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet

Petter Northug got what he wanted. Then, Norway had no problem to go home his eighth straight World Cup gold in the relay.

This despite the fact that the team consisted of three championship debutants, alongside Northug.

But that was when Sweden just had Johan Olsson in the top kind. Daniel Richardson struggled with both skis and body, Marcus Hellner did a pale figure and Calle Halfvarsson tried admittedly challenging Northug, but knew deep down that he had no chance against the Norwegian, who has been with the last five times that Norway has taken a World Championship gold.

No, Sweden’s gold chance practically disappeared on the first leg, where Richardson dropped 20 seconds. Johan Olsson then accounted for something special and sent out Hellner in the lead was not enough.

Sweden had needed Olsson at all stages of gold.

There are Olsson, who has saved the Swedish gentlemen of the World Cup so far. He took gold on Wednesday at 15 kilometers and stood in a class by itself in the blue and yellow relay quartet.

Silver in the relay is okay in Falun, where memories are frightening – Hans-Erik Larsson dropped pods in 1974 and Niklas Jonsson’s nightmare stretch in 1993 – but I have still difficult to go running on the blue-yellow silveryra after loss sprint battle against the worst competitor Norway.

Both Richardson and Hellner dropped actually 20.5 seconds on their respective distances . Not at all approved.

What worries most is yet to Johan Olsson drove his last relay. Norway thus takes gold with three new riders, while Sweden is losing its best to the next World Cup in Lahti 2017.

What am most is that Olsson has one race left to run .

What am most is that Olsson has one race left to run.

Femmilen tomorrow will be something special. Hopefully a magical ending to one and a half week’s ski party here in Falun.

Olsson is the favorite to defend the gold from the Val di Fiemme two years ago.

But first, waiting Charlotte Kalla. She has never previously won an international competition in classic style, but today she runs for gold in tremilen.

After the impressive relay leg on Thursday strengthened her self-confidence further. She

knows that the technique is that she can challenge Therese Johaug and Marit Björgen for victory.

Sweden has seven medals and I believe in two; Cold and Olsson.

Norway tops obviously medal table at the cross-country skiing far with 11 medals, including seven gold.

Petter Northug has been involved in three of them . He put his finger to his mouth when he crossed the finish line and afterwards put the whole team up on the screen where they “silenced” the Swedish audience with the same gesture.

I could not care less about the little “hyschet”. It’s certainly fun for Norwegians who seems to have a constant need to try to annoy Swedish riders and spectators. The reaction they encounter is that we most smiles. A little indulgence.

And the best answer is that, no nonsense, just to be first across the finish line.

Or how Charlotte Kalla? And Johan Olsson! stop.
