Silver to Sweden in the men’s relay – Aftonbladet

Falun / Stockholm. Calle Halfvarsson tried – but had no chance against Petter Northug.

The Norwegian accounted for a super sprint at the finish and swung the gold.

– Calle goes straight into the trap of making the same mistake as in Val di Fiemme, he said.

Daniel Richardson lost ground during the first leg, it looked tough for Swedish men.

But Johan Olsson played a super race and gave Marcus Hellner a Head Start on the third leg.

He was 14 seconds ahead of Norway. But the 29-year-old had no fun day – he dropped in both Norway and France.

Went out in third place

Calle Halfvarsson had to fight in making the other two competitors when he went out as the last one for the Swedish team.

The Frenchman Adrien Back Scheider made an attempt in the final stretch, but had nothing with gold battle to do. It was a showdown between Halfvarsson and Northug.

There was a Norwegian super strong and sprinted down the home son on lap.

– Petter is too strong, says Halfvarsson and continues:

– I thought he would stand before but he came in the slipstream behind me toward the horseshoe and so he decided there.

– He’s a little too good.

Never felt threatened

Northug got the race just where he wanted.

– The main thing is to reach the finish first, I did not want to be the first in the sprint hill but save power. The attack was good, but the last 150 not so good, he says.

The Norwegian was not impressed by Halfvars’s spurt.

– I go out on the side to make Calle little stressed. He walked into the trap and made the same mistake as in Val di Fiemme. It’s nice to see that you do not learn from his mistakes, he says and continues:

– He says all the time that he is much better than me, I’m just waiting for

him to beat me. He is first and it is enough that he takes the opportunity at home, but instead he releases me up and gives me the gold.

Hyschade at the audience

Northug celebrated by putting your finger in front mouth, a gesture to silence the Swedish audience in Falun. Afterward, the whole Norwegian team hush gesture.

– We had talked about that Petter would hyscha says Niklas Dyrhaug.

– We are away from home, you can not celebrate too much. This applies to quiet down a bit.
