Sarah Sjöström won Jerring Prize 2015 – Expressen

This year Jerring Prize is handed out.

The winner at the Sports Gala in 2016 became the swimmer Sarah Sjostrom – which received almost 120,000 votes.

– It feels great says Sjöström Expressen TV.

Sarah Sjöström won Jerring Prize last year following a year in which she conquered simvärlden seriously.

And Her 2015 was possibly even stronger. She wrote Swedish simhistoria by picking home seven medals – three gold and four silver – at the European Championships in Berlin.

“I do not know what to say”

And the World Championships in Kazan she took five medals: two gold, two silver and one bronze.

It was enough to convince the Swedish people. She won the vote ahead of second placed Johan Olsson and third Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Sarah Sjostrom according Radiosporten 119,949 votes. Johan Olsson got 82,833 and Zlatan Ibrahimovic got 46,508 votes.

– God, what fun. It is absolutely amazing. Wow, says Sjöström.

– I do not know what to say. I want to thank the coaches and leaders and my family. Without you, I had never dried and struggled on with the sport.

“Feels amazing”

When Expressen TV’s reporter Philip Gadd hits Sarah Sjostrom after the Sports Gala’s end, she was overjoyed.

– It feels fantastic.
How do you see this Jerring price compared to your first?
– God, how do you compare? It’s great with both Jerring prices. It feels great with the fans who vote, you notice how many people are following my success.
Why you win this year, do you think?
– I do not know, haha. I assume that many appreciate the accomplishments I do and even think it is fun to follow me at the championships. Not only the results, but in other respects too.
Were you nervous during the evening that there would not be any prizes home with you?
– Nah, they mostly sit and enjoy the evening, then you get to see. Then one begins to get a little jittery in the stomach when they call the nominees.
What steps nervousness during the night?
– Yes, the nervousness stage when it was

time to get up on stage . That’s the challenge. I’m used to standing in a swimming cap otherwise, but still fun to see a different side of Sarah Sjöström when you are at a sporting event.
Do you think there are many who are surprised by the side?
– Yes, it is perhaps not so many who recognize me when I walk by. But it’s fun to spice it up a bit.
How do you top this in 2016?
– I will do everything I can and work even harder in 2016. The season has already started very well and I look forward to the rest of the year.
Can you afford you any celebration tonight?
– I have training tomorrow morning as it becomes home sleep.
But maybe a little celebration anyway?
– We’ll see. Haha.
