Derby crusher – Blåvitt struck three times – Göteborgs-Posten

While the first team storms the Swedish Cup final and European games go Häcken youth teams train. Last week they won against IFK Gothenburg in three different age groups.

– It’s a sign that we are catching up, says Academy manager Tomas Andersson.

The hedge has in recent years released back and sold the multiple talents. Simon Gustafson, Leonard Zuta and Carlos Strandberg have all passed the Academy and now plays on the international scene. Gustav Berggren, 18 years old, made debut against Halmstad in the cup quarter-finals and were many wasps with his effort at central midfield. But what is even more Hacken fans cheered over the past week were the three Derby victories as the club took against IFK Gothenburg. The notches hit namely rival in U17, U19 and U21.

– We have taken steps. There is no longer any difference between IFK and our academy. Players choose us as well as them, says Tomas Andersson.

When seniors clashed 2015 Blåvitt won with 4-0 and 2-1. Häcken comeback came week. All the matches ended 3-1 to Hisings team, but it could just as easily have gone the other way, says Tomas Andersson.

– It was very coincidental. But it is clear that there is great fun, I have not been through it before, he says.

But to win three separate matches is not what the club’s academy is for. The aim is obviously to educate players to the first team.

– A few years ago we were more sprawling, now we have approached the best in Sweden. We are comparable with any other clubs. I would not say we have stepped past IFK but we are on the same level.

– The primary goal is to focus on the individual and bring out talents. Then there’s the icing on the cake if we win national championships at the junior side, says Tomas Andersson.
