Women’s team is preparing for a tough World Cup – Göteborgs-Posten

The night of Tuesday begins Ice Hockey World Championships for ladies. It is the 17th time in succession, and this time held the tournament in the city of Kamloops in Canada.

Sweden’s first match will be against the Czech Republic, as the women’s team met in the World Cup before.

– They play very hard and fast. We have met in the World Cup once before. All teams are good at the World Cup will be a tough game, says Pernilla Winberg that is forward of the national team.

In the 2013 World Championships women’s team met with the Czech Republic, a match they lost 2-3. In relegation matches, Sweden won two out of two games played, and poked the Czech Republic to Division A.

Sweden also meet Switzerland and Japan, where it is profit that applies to proceed . But according to Pernilla Winberg, it is important not to get ahead.

– You have to take one game at a time. You have to win all matches to get to the next group, she said.

She believes that Damkronornas chances for advancement in the World Cup are good.

– I think we have good chances and we have a really good team now.

Ice Hockey Championships for ladies played between 28 March to 4 april. Sweden has previously taken two bronze medals in the World Championships, in 2005 and 2007. Most gold is Canada, with ten won tournaments. Sweden has managed to win two bronze medals in the World Championships in 2005 and 2007.

Group A: USA, Canada , Finland and Russia

Group B: Sweden, Switzerland, Japan and the Czech Republic
