Historically gold to Växjö Lakers – Swedish Radio

1997 was born the club Växjö Lakers. On April 23, 2015 determines Tuomas Kiiskinen in the fifth period in the national finals six to Skellefteå. Vaxjo win their first national championship. And the whole wide arena cheering.

Message to Småland right now the best hockey team!

Skelleftå went into the playoffs with two straight national championships behind. Vaxjo makes his only fourth season in the SHL. Vaxjo win championships with 4-2 in matches and may lift the coveted Le Mat Trophy.

More exciting than this can hardly be a national finals to be. Skelleftea took the lead 2-0 but Vaxjo turned by Jani Lajunen that made 1-2, Jeff Tambellini as leveling the score to 2-2 and Tuomas Kiiskinen who decided 3-2 10:21 minutes into the second period of extension.

underdog with 0-2 against Skellefteå in the third period and everything pointed to a seventh and decisive final.

Then came the turnaround who chased away the ghost at home and gave Växjö all time coolest hockey party. Tuomas Kiiskinen scored the decisive 3-2 goal in an extension cliffhanger that ended after 10:21 in the fifth period.

The goal got the whole Vida Arena to explode in gold joy and Växjö Players to throw himself in a television puckshög, while gold confetti rained over the players

Växjö won the final series with 4-2 in matches and was hotter in the long run.

Jeff Tambellini had a shot against the bar early in the second extension period.

But the long time it looked as if this unlikely final series would be continued with a seventh and decisive final.

Everything was laid for the most festive evening in Växjö since the city’s football pride took its last national championship in 1981.

The champagne was on ice, golden helmet area was plastered and Main Market Square booked.

Then stepped Daniel Widing and Kirill Kabanov up Skellefteå. Two players who had been off the team in the final series.

Widing, Swedish champion with Brynäs 2012, was poked in both the second and third finals.

Now, he

made ahead goal after 11,31 of the first period. The home keeper Cristopher Nilstorp released too easily into Widings clearance between the velcro wraps.

And a bad omen for the home crowd as the team that made the shot has won every single final match so far.

The Russian Kabanov was poked in the fifth final match – but got the chance again on Thursday. And let loose a projectile to wrist shot from the bad angle after 2:43 of the second period Nihlstorp was absolutely no chance on.

Between the targets was the Växjö all the way. The team won the shoots of 11-3 in the first period, but Skelleftea goalkeeper Markus Svensson played great and made one sharp save after another. Among other things, the giant modes of Robert Rosen and Cory Murphy.

After the 2-0 goal became Växjö advantage even more compact. Smith continued to fear, but Vaxjo Players also shot a lot of shots – nine – misses the target despite the cannon positions.

In the end, could not Vaxjo miss anymore. Jani Lajunen, two-goal shooter at the latest, lit hope when he reduced to 1-2 after 8:28 of the third period, nicely presented, played by Liam Reddox.

Since slapped Jeff Tambellini equalizer in the numerical superiority after 14:11 then Kabanov been accident-old man and bust out the puck out.

A sensational målexplosion given that Vaxjo only had one goal in eight finals periods at home. Now come two goals at 5:43.

And then the decision ultimately receiving 5750 spectators in a crowded Vida Arena explode gold joy.
