Is the harness around AIK Hockey finally about to end?
It seems so, anyway round two of the most important positions in the club.
Sports blade experiencing the premier league association has made it clear with two key positions for the future.
Roger Melin become head coach. 58-year-old trained AIK between 2008-2012 and lifted AIK in SHL, where they surprised the whole. He comes from Linköping and contract with AIK will run over four seasons.
Anders Gozzi, 47, sporting director from 2003 to 2013, will return in the same role. He has the last two seasons working as a talent scout in the Winnipeg Jets.
They poked away
Peter Nordström took over an AIK in crisis mode since Peter Gradin and Thomas Fröberg kicked.
The season still ended in qualifying downward, but Nordstrom managed to save AIK’s elite existence, and it will continue to play in Hockey Allsvenskan next season.
– They have said they want me to go, says Nordstrom for vf.se.
According Sportbladets sources, it is true, however.
Nordstrom and assistant Michael Nylander is not included in the AIK Hockey’s future plans.
Want to invest 30 million
Roger Melin is part of the investment group that wants to invest large sums of money AIK.
Sports blade has already written about one of the investors is billionaire Torbjorn Tornqvist, which is one of Sweden’s richest people, and the group says it also will go in with almost 30 million in an initial phase and more money in the future.
The money will go to the first-team journey to SHL, a rebuild of Ritorps ice rink and the new child and youth initiative AIK Hockey Academy, which is part of the long-term business plan.
