Elite teams in shock: “Not conscious’ – Aftonbladet

Volleyball Club Hylte / Halmstad are in shock.

Six club representatives were taken to hospital yesterday after a serious traffic accident on the way home from an away game.

– One of the players was not conscious, and he has been spending the night at the hospital, says coach Matthew Young SVT Halland.

It was at 20:30 o’clock yesterday as a truck and minibus collided on highway 26 near Hestra Jönköping County last night.

– Six people were taken to hospital. They seem to have had a guardian angel, said Johan Klahr, county spokesman at the police, to Aftonbladet then.



“Do not conscious”

Now confirm the league leaders in the elite series volleyball, Hylte / Halmstad it was one of their vans that were involved in the accident after winning the away meeting with Habo.

All the six people in the car, five players and a leader, was taken to Värnamo hospital.

Players Johan Mårtensson and Benjamin Engstrom will both have incurred finger injuries while points machine Alexandro Luna injured leg.

– this team has been playing together for a long time, we know each other very well and we support each other a lot now. Everything we do from now on will be a huge bonus, because things could have been much worse, said Matthew Young.



“a major setback”

Young was himself at location in the hospital in Värnamo before he left at half past one night to Monday. The squad is shaken after the

accident, and several of the players who were involved in the accident are reluctant to play upcoming matches.

– It is a major setback which we must overcome. Under the circumstances, all the players relieved that everyone is okay. We are grateful for it could have been much worse.
