Jonna Sundling took skiing gold in the U23 World Cup – Expressen

Sweden has problems seniorsidan.

But the juniors supplies.

Today it was three medals at the U23 World Cup – and Jonna Sundling won gold.

– It was absolutely magical! Everyone else was chance against Jonna in the finals, coach Tobias Långberg.

It has in many ways been a dark ski winter Sweden.

Rider as Charlotte Kalla , Calle Halfvarsson and Marcus Hellner have had big problems – and Norway has been winning weekend after weekend.

But the junior side, we are still strong.

today started the U23 World Championships in Romania Rasnov with sprint freestyle and the Swedes dominated directly.

on the women’s side took both Jonna Sundling , 21, and Maja Dahlqvist , 21, to the final. And there they were extremely strong.

Sundling won. Dahlqvist came third.

– It was absolutely magical, says coach Tobias Långberg when Sport Expressen reach him.

– The girls looked a little lax and lazy out first, it was not a good qualifying. Then they woke to life. Jonna became stronger with each race that went!

He continues:

– It was on the fence in the quarter, where she went ahead on time. But after that it was no snack. She was very stable in the semifinals and in the finals was the second chance to solve.

It is worth noting also that Norway had no riders on to even the semifinals.

On the men’s side – where we do not have any Northman in the semifinals – took the Karl-Johan Dyvik , 22, and Oskar Svensson , 20, to the final.

and Dyvik was second. Smith was fourth.

– We are of course very pleased with the effort today. We had amazing skis, too, I must emphasize, says Tobias Långberg.

Dahlqvist and Sundling was also a part of the relay team that won gold at the Junior World Championships in 2014.
