Victor Shield sums up what all of IFK Gothenburg feel after the fiasco of the Swedish Cup:
– This is just bullshit.
Frej-IFK Goteborg 1-1
After the 1-1 against Degerfors had IFK Gothenburg pressure on away against Frej. It took a win at Skytteholm to cupspelet would live on.
And it started well. Victor Shield won a duel height already in the twelfth minute and was able to spin the 1-0 goal. Shortly after, he had a shot in the bar.
Then something happened. Frey allowed counterproductive and Joakim Runnemo sprinted past Hjalmar Jonsson and made the 1-1 – and then there were no more goals.
– I was a bit too far away from him there. There are things that happen. But we should be able to win this game anyway. Now we are out of the cup, it is fact. In two straight games, we have had plenty of chances without getting into balls. After the last game thinking that it could not happen again, but it could, says Hjalmar Jonsson.
The second half was one long orgy of misses from Blåvitt. Tobias Hysen had two balls in the timber (in a bar, one in the post). Soren Rieks had three neutrals and burned all. Gustav Engvall, who played the last half hour, dotted also post. And Jacob Ankersen was totally clean from two meters – but succeeded in some strange way to get the ball over the goal.
– We should be so good footballers we should be able to score against these kinds of teams. But now we must just go to ourselves and realize that this is just too bad. It’s too bad not to be able to win these kinds of games against Superettan teams, says Gustav Engvall, who jumped in with half an hour remaining.
How did it feel to play the match for you again?
– well, good. It’s been a little frustrating to be on the side for a while, but now I’ll be able to switch it up and play even more, he says.
The last cup match against Halmstad will now be totally irrelevant. Halland is already on
– Now we get no boost our confidence by cupspelet, but must work a little against the wind until the series launch. Now it is that we learn from this, so that we can show in the headlines that we can be so much better. This should not really happen, says Victor Shield.
Gustav Engvall:
– It is clear that one can blame bad luck, but not only. It can not just be bad luck to go all the balls in the post, it’s too bad sharpness of us simply. We get to go home and work on getting the balls.
