Islanders fourth straight home win – Metro

Three goals in the middle period laid the foundation for the New York Islanders a 4-1 victory at home against Detroit on Monday’s NHL hockey, the Islanders fourth straight victory at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Detroit Swede Gustav Nyquist was close to score the first goal in the first act, but hit the post.

instead, it was Brock Nelson with his 21st goal of the season gave the home side the lead 8:24 into the middle period. Six minutes later, Nelson played forward Josh Bailey, who made the 2-0. And just over a minute later 3-0 by Marek Židlický.

Gustav Nyquist played until Pavel Datsiuks 1-3 Reduction barely halfway into the third period, but Ryan Strome extinguished the away team’s hopes when he fired dot 4- 1, elegantly presented, played by John Tavares.
