Green on his comeback: Happy that I survived – Göteborgs-Posten

Emma Green is back. In Poland Torun she jumped his first race in 15 months, did 1.87 and was third.

– I’m happy that I survived, she says to GC.

Emma Green’s first race of the year and in 15 months were held in Polish Torun. The Swede was one of five jumpers in the start list of Copernicus’s Cup, named after the allrounder Nicolaus Copernicus. Highest personal record after Green had kroatiskan Ana Simic with 1.95.

After the injury worries, mainly in the back has kept Gothenburg dialect away from the stadiums for over a year. Last time she was jumped on Finnkampen 2014.

– I’m happy to be back on track. It feels like a win to be back. It was nice to do it now and not in the summer. It feels like a bonus, says Emma Green of the comeback.

Sneak premiere in Poland was a proof that the 31-year-old’s body is over.

The Swede went into last in the competition at the height 1.80 . There she managed splendidly. But on the next height, 1.85 tore her first attempt. Also, the second resulted in the rib tumbled to the ground. But then came the elasticity back. Last hope at 1.85 went well and so did the first attempt at 1.87.

The bar was raised to 1.89. While the Polish Urszula Gardzielewska-Domel jumped clean bumped Green on worries. Two straight demolitions were followed by a third and the Swede could enter 1.87 in his return to the high jump mat.

– It’s very nice to be running. Shop was very mixed. Some were really good, others not at all. I felt in good physical shape, but then I can not expect me to jump so high. But the hopes I had to, I am pleased, above all on 1.87, she said.

Now it remains to see if Emma Green will participate in Globe Awards on 17 February.

– I really want to be with. But I’ll try to be judicious with the Achilles tendon. I get to see how it reacts in the coming days. It’s a little tender, but now I need to expose your body to this load to come back. Now that I’m giving it enough recoverable, she says.
