Anger against Northug – for tactical riding – Expressen

Petter Northug was at the back of the leading group almost the entire race – before deciding the Tour de Ski stage a few hundred yards from goal.

After the finish was the Russian Jevgeni Belov furious – and shaking their finger against the Norwegians.

– I do not think it is so to do, says Belov to Dagbladet.

Petter Northug won Thursday’s stage over 25 km freestyle in the Tour de Ski.

The Norwegian was at the back of the leading group in principle throughout the race and let Martin Johnsrud Sundby, Calle Halfvarsson and Jevgeni Belov do the job.

A few hundred yards from goal, however, came pressure that decided – and Petter Northug slid in cases winner.

A few seconds later passed Jevgeni Belov finish line in fourth – and he was hardly satisfied.

against Petter Northug when he crossed the finish line. Belov was disappointed that the Norwegians are not helped to pull over the 25 miles.

– This was only the fifth stage, it was not the Tour de Ski, which was held here. Then you have to help the group during the race, he says to Dagbladet.

– He just went in the back and let the rest of us do the work. I do not think it’s so to do and why I reacted after the finish. And therefore I’m pissed now.

Petter Northug itself is easy on the criticism.

– The three others were much stronger than me today so I could not be here and do says he said.
