He makes Liverpool a last great service – Aftonbladet

Let us not mourn – let’s applaud.

After 26 years at the club makes Steven Gerrard Liverpool a last great service.

He leaves at just the right time.

It hit like a bomb worse than the whole New Year night’s total fireworks. The news that Steven Gerrard leaves Liverpool. A blow for the club, the league and the entire football world that took harder than many people’s painful awakening on New Year’s Day.

Do not fully trust

Liverpool’s longest serving captain leave the club. Premier League clearest symbol and the biggest icon has run its course. England’s greatest football profile right now along with Wayne Rooney next season did not play ball in the British Isles.

Steven Gerrard is 34 and would most likely stay in the Premier League for a few years. But by leaving now he makes Liverpool another very great service.

During the autumn has become clear that manager Brendan Rodgers will no longer have full confidence in his captain. Gerrard has repeatedly poked, often with the explanation that his style is not always suitable for the resistance. It must be painful to hear it for the first time after 17 years in the club’s first team.

Petning increases have not been uncontroversial. Rodgers has received harsh criticism from supporters hold because he does not treat the club’s greatest icon with enough respect. Steven Gerrard should have a place in the Liverpool first team think many fans. Goodness knows that 34-year-old earned it. But the question is whether it is best for the team?

Rodgers does not believe it and as long as he has the club’s confidence to determine it’s the truth. Had Gerrard wanted a

new contract with Liverpool, he had it – but it had been able to put both Rodgers and the club in a very difficult situation.

slipping out of the Premier League

If the manager continued to poke Gerrard, and the results have gone against, his trust of the fans risked plunging. Steven Gerrard had been able to make a fuss. He had been whining. He had been able to get Rodgers kicked. Now he steps rather than self aside and thereby leaves the whole power of Liverpool’s future in Rodgers hands. As long as the 34-year-old is not an integral part of the future is the right decision.

It may be difficult to complete long love relationships but must Liverpool move forward as a football club can no longer lean against Steven Gerrard. Given the icon’s status risked it also become an untenable situation to have him as some kind of backup on the bench.

Now, Steven Gerrard Liverpool one last big favor by leaving. The only thing I could wish for is that he had managed to get that league title before this day came. But the most beautiful things are rarely without scratches or defects.

Diego Maradona doped to the pension. Zinedine Zidane head-butted out of football. Steven Gerard slipped away from the Premier League. In a way, I just think it will make them even more immortal.
