Had paktat with idiots if it helped “- Aftonbladet

Toblach, Italy Do not believe the headlines, do not believe what the truckers say.

The thing that tomorrow can looks like a pact or alliance is something else.

There are four egos who happened to be next to each other.

On Tuesday swept a fever over the press corps.

Three sworn enemies lay in the top of the men’s tour, but when Calle Halfvarsson, Martin Johnsrud Sundby and Petter Northog spoke about the future was the male away. Instead, they talked about tactics and samarbeid.

Of course, rendered the headlines. Here, the media and the athletes created a reality where three of the world’s top riders hate each other, and suddenly gullas it.

A collaboration means nothing

I was hardly the only one who did speak in Norwegian media if it could really be true. Have we got a Swedish Norwegian alliance?

I answered no.

Certainly, Petter Northug made concessions this winter to even compete for Norway. He shows up at the press meet again and has postponed the launch of the clothing line that would compete with the national team’s sponsors.

But he will cooperate with Halfvarsson and Sundby does not mean that the three should start hanging at leisure and write in each other’s buddy books.

Today, failed Northug ten-kilometer classic while Sundby, Halfvarsson and Russian Evgeniy Belov sealed the distance to the Norwegians.

Tomorrow starts the Quartet within 14 seconds, which indicates that they follow each other as long as they can through the 25 kilometers of freestyle.

A gaggle of egoists

Just pact was talking and running again here in Toblach. The riders have spoken with leaders, journalists and each other.

– I hope everyone up front helps,

says Halfvarsson.

And of course, they do not lie.

And of course, the newspapers will not find on.

In a way it is the talk of cooperation, but believe anyway not think it is altruism that will accompany the tour’s top four riders. They have not turned into Friendly Four overnight.

The Quartet last man starts 41 seconds before Dario Cologna and all four in the lead will tear to maintain the gap down. It may look like a nice group of ski buddies, but is actually a bunch of egotists who are brought together by the start list. They had paktat with fools and boors if it had helped them in the overall standings.

They will not pull a meter

And good is that?

Now that the length of the sport’s core, the rivalry between Sweden and Norway, is weakened by the blue and yellow is too bad in the World Cup, it would be terrible if the best Swedes turned to the Norwegians for help.

Halfvarsson is not like that. He will not pull a meter more than that favors him. Same thing with Sundby, Belov and Northug (who might not do a damn thing to help).

Surely we will see Sundby pull up the momentum of climbs, Northug keep the momentum in the flatter rides and Halfvarsson first need to get the 13.6 seconds he is after, then rest for a few miles and then pull as much as Belov .

Will there so it would be in the first place, no pact.

It would be plain cross country.
