Gold dream lives on Blåvitt by Engvall goal – Göteborgs-Posten

Gustav Engvall lowered AIK with his two goals and shot Blåvitt remain in the hunt for gold.

– Damn good to silence 40,000 aikare. Comfortable feeling, said match hero.

It was boiling inside the Friends Arena even before the kickoff, when 43,712 did his. A figure which is a record in the league at Friends. A must match for both AIK and IFK Gothenburg.

Jörgen Lennartsson chose to set up a new lineup when he put the inner midfielder Mads Albaek as a second striker. A move that seemed particularly well in the first half.

Otherwise, it was AIK started the best – perhaps lit by Dickson Etuhus early cutting of Soren Rieks? Henok Goitom and Mohamed Bangura created great concern in the blue and white defense that fell lower and lower. A match image that suited AIK like a glove.

The home side took the lead through a goal that will be controversial. Mohamed Bangura threw a long throw (which looks like a felinkast) – a throw that lead all the way to Goitom who slammed into his 17 goals for the season.

The joy of top scorer, however, was short-lived when Gustav Engvall receipted only 23 seconds later. Something he can thank Jos Hooiveld who hit the ball on Haukur Hauksson and harmlessly Engvall. A goal that got the more than 4000 blue and white supporters in place at Friends dancing with joy.

Right after the goal took the team captain Mattias Bjärsmyr a talk with his teammates. Then it was Blåvitt who created the best chances and could have taken the lead through both Soren Rieks and Gustav Engvall.

Otherwise, it was a pretty tough and hot first half. Etuhu showed the way and then hailed the tough tackles. Often from AIK players on Soren Rieks.

Ten minutes into the second half ran Gustav Engvall through. The striker went bust in the duel with Haukur Hauksson. Penalty from the grandstand. Judge Ekberg acquitted. A few minutes later, however, the case. Jakob Ankersen found Gustav Engvall who coolly put the 2-1 in a corner. A goal that keeps Blåvitt left in the gold fight.

– It stayed a while there, I could not believe what happened. Making it barely now either. I get to think a bit about it, says Engvall.

Pretty ok match today?

– I am satisfied with my performance. Would have been happy even if I’ve had zero goals and we had won. Now we are having and AIK are out.

Does it feel that way?
– Yes, a little bit so! This was an important game and now we won.

Will the gold now?
– Norrköping, Malmö has gone, will be a tough game.

What do you say otherwise if the season?
– It has not been so dicey. I believed in myself and it’s become a little bench, injuries and off. Then I got the chance with the U21 and great confidence and it has been well rubbed off.

You thrive in the big matches?
– Really do not know why it is so, i like the big games and it is pleasant to silence the 40,000 Aikare with two goals, says Engvall with a smile.
