Radiosporten expert: UEFA on thin ice – Swedish Radio

– UEFA is out on pretty thin ice, says Radiosporten football pundit Richard Henriksson after that it is now quite clear that the European Football Association still prepared to back up their corruption suspects president Michel Platini as the new chairman of FIFA, the international football association.

UEFA member countries yesterday had a meeting in Nyon to discuss the state of Michel Platini, President of the Federation, which is currently suspended from all football activity by FIFA’s ethics committee was. After the meeting, announced UEFA that they want to let Platini redress and a chance to present evidence that he is innocent.

In an interview with Radio Sport says Karl-Erik Nilsson, Swedish Football Association chairman, on how the meeting was. After hearing the comments Radiosporten football pundit Richard Henriksson situation like this.

– They defenders its chairman, says Henriksson.

– Platini bet everything on one card and now UEFA member countries behind.

Platini did not participate himself in the meeting and it showed no evidence that the money he received from Sepp Blatter, FIFA’s outgoing president, should have been a valid payment for the work Platini says he is done. According to Karl-Erik Nilsson revealed information that it must have been an agreement for the payment but it is unclear if there was a verbal or written agreement.

How tightrope balancing UEFA to do you, Richard Henriksson?

– I think that UEFA is out on pretty thin ice that puts so hard on one card. It had been another thing about Karl-Erik Nilsson had said that they saw evidence of this meeting showing that Platini is innocent.

UEFA chances to launch a new candidate who can be FIFA president (elections are in February 2016) is deemed to be small. How it plays out?

– This is the crucial issue. UEFA will not have time to produce a candidate who wins the support of UEFA and especially not in the other confederations, says Richard Henriksson.

– They are concerned that UEFA will have a less strong voice in the FIFA presidential election next year.
